Ring record broken, yet again
I'm glad I got on the ACR bandwagon when I did. Dealers and private sellers might try to use this to jack up prices.

But, to put it in context, if you want the best track car, buy the ACR. If you like to have a few luxuries, buy the GTR or ZR1. You'll notice that the ACR that set the record had the hardcore package (no radio/speakers, removed trunkliner, removed hood pad, etc.). Might be tough to live with for just cruising around. The ACR also destroyed other high performance cars in this Motor Trend article. It beat the next best time by about 5 seconds, but it did not get the subjective score due to the learning curve you can expect when you try to drive this car at its limits.

I'm going to love slowly trying to tame this beast.

quite impressive. the only thing that i was confused about was the long straight. was he hitting the rev limiter in 6th?? hard to tell and i don't know the shift pattern on the car. must be a nice job to go out and flog that thing at someone else's expense.
I also think the ACR could get a better time. I missed some parts but I did notice that the driver missed a shift. When he was going down that straight that was insane I also like how the shifter starts shaking alot when you bounce it off the rev limiter.

That would mean if the GTR did a 7:29, the ACR should be doing a 7:07.
My point is, one would rightfully suspect the ACR to be much much quicker than 7 seconds around a 7+ min track than the GTR.
I missed this second link, but here the ACR is running a 1:35 over the GTR's 1:40. That's a 5% difference, not the sub 2% difference found on the ring.

Not to call you out at all but:
1) I would almost bit a lot of money that the Viper gets its top speed in 5th gear instead of 6th gear.
2) If he would to red line the Viper in 6th gear it would do over 250 mph due to its extra tall top gear..again, I highly doubted, most likely he was red line on 4th which should put that car at around 165mph or so..
That is my best and most accurate guess.
Changing the subject, can you guys imagine a GTR spec V vs ZR1 vs ACR?, I just can't wait...

I do think the ACR is quite nice and good performer but if GM wanted to they would build a "barely street legal" car they would beat the ACR with ease. They are going to put a gas guzzler tax on this car plus the smog index will be high on this car. I am a smog tech and i have seen older vipers run crappy numbers on the gas analyzer with only 10k on it. I do agree for the time being that the ACR is a better track car.
