the tdi is not coming out. it will be a 10 cylinder. the 12 was too risky when it came to blowing up.
i spoke to the head tech and service writer for one of the biggest vw dealerships in south florida about the R8 yesterday funny enough and he said the diesel was coming out. also they were in debate about the new vw cc. its a mid engine rwd 2 seater by vw. also the new shirocco isnt coming to the states as it would kill gti sales. of course this was all talk and a bit of specualtion, but he has worked for vw for over 15 years, here and in germany where he is from. so i tend to listen to him on stuff like this. anyway. saw the R8 on fastautos this morning, very cool looking car in the race trim.

Is he sure about that? One of the recent articles I read stated Audi deemed it too costly to come out with the 12 cyl diesel version. Although they have a running version of the 12 diesel R8, Audi stated it was mounted to a modified r8 trans. Audi also stated r8 trans would not take the torque of the diesel engine. In order for them to fit the proper trans, Audi specifed they needed to lengthen the wheelbase to fit the 12 cyl engine (already longer than the V8) with even longer brand new designed trans that could deal with the 12's torque. Too much money to invest for a small amount of vehicles Audi would sell I think. However, I did hear Audi was planning on coming out with the 10.
Personally, I would just put MTM supercharger and call it a day.
