Factory Turbo 2.4 SRT4 Mistu. powered?

How close is the SRT4's 2.4 to the Lancers 2.4? I've heard every thing that the STR4"s motor was designed with help from Mitsu. to Mitsu. assembles them.

The idea of a 2.4 that delivers 285 hp, 25 mpg on regular gas, is totally smog legal, and is as close as the Dodge dealer or local junk yard is an awful yummy one.

Does not have 285hp, does not run on regular, would not be smog legal with any of the Mopar stages, ....look somewhere else.

Moved to other cars. Assuming you're talking about the Neon SRT-4, Mitsubishi only did the turbo and exhaust manifold, the engine was Chrysler's, even if there may have been some design elements leftover from the DSM days.

I think the new SRT-4 uses the world engine that Mitsubishi developed in conjunction with Dodge (and maybe Hyundai) but they're still completely different.

Anyone know if someone with a 4g69 ralliart could snag a turbo manifold off of an SRT4 or would it not bolt up? Im sure you could find a cheap manifold off of one of them.

I was looking at the Dodge Caliber SRT4. The Info. I pulled was from Consumer Report. I wondered about the (world) engine before and seeing the New Evo and The SRT4 in the same article bought it back to mind.

American Auto manufactures would constantly reuse and modify existing blocks. It just seemed at least interesting that Mitsu. would be involved with developing an engine that is so simular in size and general lay out to something they already have on the shelf.

I just thought someone might know more on the subject.

i was able to take corners and hang with numerous modded WRXs/STi's on a local track with a S2 SRT4. Doesn't sound like it handled like crap to me.

1st off... the SRT-4 motor(03-05) was the 2.4, the same block used in the 95-99 sebring, just slapped a turbo on. Not much from that motor, especially not the turbo manifold(since the turbo on those cars are in the back of the engine bay.!!!!) would fit where the manifold goes in the front on the lancers. the New SRT-4 does use the world motor, mostly all aluminum. the SRT-4 was a pos anyway..(worked at a dodge dealer)

they were horrible at handling on stock suspension, if u kept up with evos/stis...they cant drive! they are great in straightline..but unless u upgrade the suspension, no AutoX for them!

Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 285(213) / 5700-640

Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM: 265(352) / 2000-5600

^^^new SRT ^^^

“The all-new 2.4-liter turbocharged World Engine delivers a level of power you’d expect from a V-8,” said Pete Gladysz, Senior Manager – SRT Powertrain. “With the engine in the all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4, we were able to take advantage of tried-and-true performance improvements, such as increased cylinder-head flow and higher compression ratio, as well as newer technologies such as Variable Valve Timing (VVT).”

To achieve its high-performance Dodge Caliber SRT4 configuration, the aluminum 2.4-liter World Engine block is specially machined for increased water flow. Unique cast pistons travel within iron cylinder liners, and are cooled by oil squirters and affixed to forged connecting rods for high-revving reliability.

Free-flow induction begins with an all-new air cleaner assembly that draws cool air through an opening in the front upper crossmember. The air is then compressed in a TD04 turbocharger specially configured for the engine’s inlet and outlet packaging requirements, and sent through a large11-row intercooler to a 57mm throttle body.

Power is transferred through a dual-mass flywheel to the GF six-speed manual transmission.

^^^OLD SRT^^^

Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 230(172) / 5300

Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM: 250(339) / 2200-4400

then the new SRT engince bay....turbo by firewall

It was my understanding that the SRT-4 motor was the same as the PT Cruiser Turbo.
