Anybody sell their EVO to get a new V8 M3?
I used to drive a V dub rabbitt(06) brand new. Yes it isn't a BMW i know but hey its german. I can say that germans do make nice cars. They're great on the highway, they run quiet and are great daily drivers. I have driven my cousin's 06 M3 it was fast but it felt like a tank. It wasn't responsive like the evo. It felt to heavy for me. It didn't feel nimble enough.
Once thing to remeber, guys who seriously are into the whole german car scene are a bunch of snobs. That is one of the reasons why I left that group. They are all pompous ******.
Agreed please keep the evo and replace the green not with the red but get the HTA 35R please..evos are sick..you keep saying the M3 is a 4 door..isnt your evo a 4 door too? evos are so much fun to drive the bang for your buck is uncomparable..you got ppl making 450WHP at 22psi..the bmw might come with 414 but from the factory when they throw hp numbers at you to my knowledge(could be wrong) they dont measure it in whp..
for instance my 05 evo viii comes with 271hp stock as you all know but thats not 271whp to my knowledge
the M3 is a retirement car you want something slick and fast and fun keep the evo man and go with a 35r

just so you know, 05 EVO's came with 276hp stock, not 271hp. and no, this wasn't a whp rating, although at 276hp, the 05's were underrated.
Hey, I sold my Evo but I'm still here, and I won't move, this community is great!
I don't have an M3 but I'll give you my input anyway. You won't regret getting the new M3 at all, I test drove it and it's great, but you WILL regret not having the Evo anymore.
I sold my Evo and got an ISF, and even though I enjoy my ISF in every possible way, I miss the Evo. IMO nothing handles better than the Evo, and the power surge when the turbo spools is unbelievable. In my case I was getting tired of having the Evo as a DD, I wanted something better quality, more refined, more luxury... Now that I made the decision I regret not keeping the Evo as a weekend/fun car. I'd say keep the Evo and get yourself the car that you like, if the new M3 is your choice then go for it.
Finally the Z06 is all about power, but for some people (like me) there are other things more important. For example compare the interior quality of the Z06 against a BWM, day and night...

I don't personally own an M3, however, I do have a friend that bought one about three months ago...he is sad...
For the money of the M3 the performance isnt as impressive as it could be in the REAL WORLD driving applications of everyday commuting. Another friend of mine has a C32 AMG (Intake only) and walks the new M3 everytime.

For that price I'd be looking at other brand new cars and even a few low mileage used cars. I'd love to pick up a 911 turbo even if it had some miles at that price. Even the m5's are dropping in price so take a look at that too.
Now i went to go see the new M3 (4door) and the first thing i said was they made this car with paris hilton in mind the front seats where a lil to small. I got running back legs and a big back and i couldnt see myself driving one. The guy asked me if i wanted to test drive it i said no becasue i barely fit in here. Guy told me thats the same thing everyone tells him.
It seems like a great car dont get me wrong but i would rather get something with a lil more leg room for the people in back and so i can stretch my legs on road trips. As far as the MPG goes i would take the car to get retuned asap for better MPG and performance. From what i read people in the UK are getting great MPG and a few extra HP after tuning.

All I gots to say is 250 tq (DynoJet) at the wheels is weaksauce...granted the torque curve is as flat as Kansas, but who cares....it's Kansas.
If someone put the M3 dynoplot up and said it was their Evo they would get ripped apart.

I think the m3 puts down 355rwhp and 265rwtq.
You have a fast car now, what is it about the highway you hate with your evo? no crusie? Rides too hard? MPG?
I had an evo for 4 yrs. Got an 335ic,,,, never looked back.
Its not an M3,,,,,,,, but with my $249 chip, it puts down about 350rwtq, and 320 rwhp. And gets 30+ on the highway.
I say get the M3 sedan, if you can swing it. All the little things add up fast in the bimmer,, that makes the car a great whole.
btw I have only driven the M3 on ps3,,,,,, and it huggs the road really nice,,,lololol.
