It does sound like it huh? Its not that we're paranoid, its that we see what cops go through now to catch us for anything. Something like that is so easy to do that I wouldn't put it past them to actually do. Especially those cops that wake up hating because they can't budget their money and buy an EVO or GTR

I'm paranoid. I'll agree to that and its for good reason. How many people thought the internet would be senseless fun without being charged for criminal activity. There are people who have been arrested for talking about a street race that resulted in a crash, speeding, and activities that take place in the privacy of the home.

You can be traced by your ip, user name, and other entities and then charged for posting a blog, having pictures on a private site, or anything else that may hint to illegal activities. In addition to that if it is by court order to investigate for your involvement or witness to something that has happened against legal standards America has the right to investigate your public and private life.

It kinda stoped me in my tracks , I was like, ok your getting an electronic speeding ticket on the highway mailed to you?????

I dont think this is a good direction to where things are going,,, whats next for Big Brother?

That is about as bad as having your car limited to 75mph MAXX!

I dont think there is a way around that highway ticketing either?

Umm...I'm pretty sure the GT-R isn't the first car to have a "black box" implemented.

So, yeah. Everyone calm the hell down.

? The article already states that. It's not about what's current it's about the direction that its headed and the potential that lies within.

Well, if you already know that then why are you now worrying about it?

They haven't used any of these boxes in the past to catch speeders. Surely, by now they would've done that if they could. This article is retarded. Just because some nobody decided to cancel his order because he doesn't understand the purpose of this box is no reason to now look down on the car or make ridiculous comments.

This isn't new and they won't use these boxes to catch you speeding because not all cars have these. That would be too unfair and wouldn't hold up in court when less than 1% of cars are equipped with them.

This isn't a very hard concept to understand.

Even so, the police can't just pull you over just to scan the box.

What happened if it wasn't you who was driving. Say you let your brother drove it and he tried to emulate the Autoban here in there US. How are they going to deal with that?

But either way, I think it's dumb. Hey isn't this kind of invasion of personal privacy?

these things are in some cars already. Wasn't there a fatal accident involving a corvette in which the passenger was killed that the black box was used against the driver?

While you do bring up a good point in the first part of your post, it's still not an invasion of privacy.

It is used strictly for diagnostic purposes. These cars have a lot of technology in them and it has to be monitored or else it would be harder to diagnose and then fix later.

In a way, I highly doubt they would ever use this in court seeing as a cop can't just reach inside your car when you get pulled over and take the time to record whatever it is your car just did and save it and use it with his radar gun to prove in court you were speeding. A law somewhere would have to change to prove that the cop had a right to go inside your car. It's just too big of a hassel for any cop or magistrate.

Also, If I was in an accident for driving like a turd face then they are going to find out regaurdless. Those accident scene investigators are so good at their job its not even funny. Not to mention, this could save you in some cases... when I had my porsche, I had minimal insurance because I owned the car and some doofus intentionally ran me off the road at 2am. He HAD to of been drunk and the cop looked right past it (some people are that crazy) and because of my age and the fact there was no damage on his truck cause it was 500 ft off the ground and the 40 ft tire hit my car (exagerating)... I WAS FOUND AT FAULT! If I had this blackbox... I would have been golden.

I do think the warranry issue kind of ruins the whole modding fun but I dono... how much faster do you really want the thing to go? lol And it's such a sexy *** car.. I think the positives weed out the few negetives in so many ways. They are a business, they need to do whatever they can do to save money where it's needed... any business owners in here? You understand.

Im just saying its interesting. Just like the camera can take a pic of your car and send you a ticket...it doesn't matter who's driving but who its registered to. My in-laws have a camera where they live that takes your pics if you approach a red light too quickly. You'll get a ticket for that. If they can do things like that, to me seems outrageous, what else can they do? The one in the EVO, what does that one do?

pretty big that it makes ABC news. Usually something like this would just be in a gear head blog or on a board like this with all of us complaining. Needless to say, I can't afford a GTR so i don't care. lol

pretty crazy stuff though. Supposedly a lot of this technology will be integrated into the new OBDIII parameters.
