Corvette ZR1 sets a new 'Ring time of 7:22.4

Back at the Nürburgring, the hot Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 has just ripped four seconds off its claimed 7:26 lap. The new time, with Jan Magnussen at the wheel, is a claimed 7:22.4 for the full 12.93-mile loop. While the number is pretty bloody fast, it is still .3 seconds off the time earned by the Dodge Viper ACR (ouch, those three tenths really have to hurt!). We take these lap times with a grain of salt, as we've yet to see everyone on the 73-turn course under the same conditions, and with officially certified timing equipment. Again, so you don't have to Google the competition's best-claimed Ring times yourself, here they are: Porsche GT2 - 7:32, Nissan GT-R - 7:29, Corvette ZR1 - 7:22.4 and the Dodge Viper ACR - 7:22.1. Thanks for the tip, Xeyad!

It is ironic how the "POS"GM car (like some people of this forum call it) is now beating the best of the best any other car manufacturer can put out there at Nurburgring.

I know the car is superfast in straights and what not but the real test would be waiting for the ZR1 to do some laps on much smaller tracks where the top speeds is not that big of an issue. I still want to see the Spec V going agaisnt the ZR1 and the Viper ACR.

Well, this shows me that the americans cars can also compite and beat the most exotic cars out there.

Exotic cars are not just about pure speed. I would rather drive a "slower" Ferrari or Lambo, than a crazy fast Chevy.

Some people want attention because they don't get enough...others just want you to sit down, shut up and hang on.

But where are you going to buy a new exotic with a 36k warranty that's serviceable at your local Chevy dealer?

Even if I could afford an exotic, I would never be able to drive it like I want to. It would stick out too much and I would soon have more attention than I wanted. There are enough Z06's around here to make me not so memorable to local law enforcement. But many who can afford an exotic just want the attention. So they're happy with theirs and I'm happy with mine .

I agree with you mostly, but the 36K warranty with GM doesn't exude much confidence

Either way - nice job GM!

haha anyone who says they need a "truly" exotic car to attract girls, or that they attract girls more than my z06 is crazy. I went from a big turbo evo 9 where girls asked me i drive and i say an evo and they look at me funny to now saying a z06 and the panties drop. haha its crazy how many people stare. as far as it being a american pos car, well mine has its flaws the evo never had, but its okay i like my american things.

Why buy a car that ost more than double the price and get your butt kicked in every category.

Oh and by the way, ones already been modded at corvette dotors and it dynoed 549whp STOCK and made 598whp with long tubes and a tune. Hearts will be broken when they start upping the boost on those cars.

I don't know, for the price. When I took my mom car shopping, she wanted to look at the Malibu and they had an 08 Z06 in the front. Sticker in the window was $110,000. Z06. God only knows what the hell they'd charge for ZR1 here, but suffice to say, the cost puts it into exotic car territory.

If you have game, you don't need an expensive car to get women.
If you have no game, even an exotic car can't help you.
