R34 Gtr
R34 Gtr
So, i've been driving this around for a couple of weeks now and i thought i'd give a small comparo for those that may be interested.
i have a 99 V-spec with TeinS suspension and 19x10.5 AME cirlar Spec R wheels. Stock everything else.
Its a 10 year old car but its in very good condition with minor paint and body imperfections. there is a little rust on the trunk lid but its all managable.
i'll do a little beautification and tough up to it but not much else.
compared to my Evo9 MR, its hard to compare but to a stock evo they feel slightly different.
the GTR is very sure footed with this suspension and wheel package but it also helps with the lower center of gravity. this is a much lower car than the evo and the seating position is similar to an s2k. the seats are more confidence inspiring and definitely not for larger people. im about 190 lbs at 6 feet and my **** fits snug in the seat. the bolsters are very narrow but comfortable for city driving. long drives can be a bit of a bear but is relatively comfortable.
the rb26 is not a torquey engine but pulls hard above 3500 rpm IMO. its a nice power band all the way to the 8k redline.
on the stock exhaust, it has a nice exhaust note but it sounds much like the VQ engines with aftermarket exhausts. a bit of popping on decel but i like the sound.
in the twisties...although i have only had it on the streets...it feels solid in the turns. the AWD and HICAS steering seem to be doing the job. i cant tell you accurately if its the wide tires but im sure the combo is helping make this a very sure footed car. it definitely likes to stay where i put it in the turns.
i wouldnt say that in mostly stock form its a beast but its an attention getter on the roads and a gorgeous car in the driveway. a good car all the way around and as good of a sports car as any other out there for a reasonable price.
also, the oil changes doent cost $300 and i can do all the maintenance myself, unlike the r35 GTR. plus its actually a skyline. i like the new r35 but i still prefer the looks and proven performance of the r34.
thanks for reading.
