it shouldnt be a contest again..... i mean the only thing is finally what she wants....

how ever, mitsubishi, mazda(ford), or subaru? in my opinion

the outlander is gorgeous, and down the road when the waranty expires, or if you have any problems.... the architecture is the same as your evo, they are the same platform. BUT, if she doesnt like it, she doesnt like it.... haha good luck man

Now on the other hand, I bought our v8 4runner last year and gave it to her. She loves it, and I think we will own it until the wheels fall off. It handles like a crossover, offroads like a toyota, and I can pull damn near anything a full size half ton can. The amenities are nice, and even with the 4.7 it still gets 21-22 on the hwy, 17-18 in town. It's been a nice peace of mind having her drive it in the winter out here in Idaho as well, as it handles snow and ice much better than the nissan did despite being heavier.

I guess I'm just biased, but I've owned tacomas, a tahoe, dakota, xterra, explorer, 4runner, audis, jeeps, the bronco, etc. The 4runner is by far my favorite 4wd I've ever had.
This was the Xterra with the 4.0 that was updated in 05? If so, that is complete BS. I own an 05 and it has PLENTY of power. It goes 0-60 in under 7 seconds if I am not mistaken. has some serious off road capabilities and still drives nice on road. Its drawbacks are a somewhat cheap interior, but being on an evo board, this is easily overlooked, and the back seat can be hard to access

I agree the 4 runner is great, but for the money when I was looking, it was not worth mid to upper 30's

It was an '04 with the 3.5. I can only comment on what my experiences were with the 11 4wd vehicles I have owned in the last 12 years. Also to the OP - the highlander is nowhere near the same 4x4 capability of the 4runner. It's more like an AWD minivan. All toyotas are expensive new, but I got my 4runner used last year before the big dip in prices due to gas for $19k with 30k miles on it. Good luck!

My Mom has a 07 CX-7. Its great and looks awesome.

Performance Wise, I can't really even tell it has a turbo at all. Maybee its just the way my Mom drives. I think it gets decent gas milage, even though its on premium.

It seems like everyone missed this line "Money is also definitely a factor - want to keep it < 25K if poss..." ????

Because this is an evo site, maybe this will be interesting:

I have a '97 Toyota 4runner as the winter beater and it never stop to amaze me. It's have 160K + mile and still run fine. The only thing that I've ever replaced was the starter. Drove it on a 2k miles trip last fall without a problem. So my vote is also for a used Toyota 4runner.

well, so far it looks like the outlander has the approval so far (yes!)

looks like mitsu is offering 0% for 48mos, which is another win, and it seems that a specific dealer has the 100K warranty standard...is that always the case? and any outlander owners here want to chime in?
