Most tests I've seen show an edge to the X, which has substantially less whp and 200 pounds more weight. My X with a tune and full exhaust made 40whp less than my 135i with only a PROcede and intake, but the corner entry and exit speeds in the Evo were substantially higher.

Thanks Carlos, but I don't care about drag racing. I care about handling and cornering speed potential. The Kumho XS with 225w tires in the front should help a ton, as would an alignment. I just need to burn up the runshats before the upgrade. Those two small changes should help the car a lot.

Is their a particular reason you are set on the Kuhmo XS? Their are the new Bridgestone RE11 coming, the AD08's, and the Nitto's, and even still the Dunlop z1's. I really would foresee all these tires being superior to the Kuhmo's.

Also why not go with a 255/35 and a 225/40? Not much taller and much wider selection of tire. That is the same size the E46 M3 comes with. I would say go with 275/30's but I hear the 135's can't fit that ride of rear tire.

I'd do 225/40 and 255/35 in a heartbeat, find me a tire that comes in both those sizes! The problem is finding tires to fit both sized on this frakking car. The Nittos won't fit in the release sizes, but I'd lay money the new XS will be better than them as well as those Direzzas you mentioned.

I'd buy another set of Azenis RT615 like I had on my VIII in a heartbeat if they'd fit this car.

Neova AD08s cost a small fortune.

The last Bridgestone RE-01R that Edge Racing discontinued would do what I need in the sizes you suggested, but Tirerack has them for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I have baby #2 on the way, and daycare is about to jump to $1400 a month. A $1000 set of tires are not in my budget right now.

I know nothing on the RE11. Fill me in. RE-01R replacement? Wallet destroyers?

Thanks for replying with good info, I appreciate you.

Agreed the AD08 are out based on price. RE11 is the RE-01R replacement and should be out before this autoX season...so say some of the people I have talked too. Although they will carry a bridgestone $$$ price similiar to the RE01R I assume. You can get the Dunlop Z1 currently in that size for under $800 F&R.

The Kuhmo XS may turn out the be a good tire, not sure if it will be better than the Z1 until I see some tests on it which I haven't yet.

I'll look into those RE11s for sure. I can't pull the trigger on Z1s based on past dislike driving a friend's car. I have a friend who is a HPDE freak with a WRX wagon who just put fresh XS on his car. They are supposed to be a lot nicer than MX, which was not as fast as the Azenis, but way more predictable and don't get greasy when hot. I need to ask to take that WRX for a spin so I can get a better feel for the XS. If they are what I'm hearing (early reports), they should be good. But I'll take your advice to heart and be leery of them and make sure they are OK before purchase.

Thanks again!
