unfortunately no bank will finance a 12 year old car. i have a friend who owns his own business, house and 2 cars anda bike, that couldnt get financing for a 03 evo because its now 6 years old.
36k for a supra seems like a lot too. i know that all the book values mean nothing with these cars, but still for 36k there are a lot cooler 12 year old cars out there. supra prices are due for an adjustment, and this economy is the time for it to happen.

I had a friend who bought a stock 95/96/97 supra TT with about 15k miles in 2001. He paid something like $22k for it. He kept it for years, put lots of miles on it and at the end it was worth more than he paid for it. It's strange that a relatively high production car would turn out to be a good investment.

That's a great find! But it only worth it to you. You know if you buy that car then mod it, the value will only go down from there.

I ain't paying 36gs for a car that has been put into a pedestal because one person can run 8 sec and pull 1200 or 1400rwhp after spending $130k in mods.

The Supras are cool and could potencially be fast but you have to dump a lot of money. For 36gs you are just buying a car that is worth $10000-$12000, that is right folks!!. There were many cars in the Supras price category when new(Corvette C4, Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4, Nissan 300ZX, Mazda RX7s) that have the right price.

Cmon people, keep feeding the hype more and more, why not just pay $50gs for a Supra stock that is 12 years old? The Supra gained a popularity because of its texas mile, 1/4 mile traps and ETs and dyno numbers, that is all good but think about this, what are you getting for 36g's? a used Supra that cost new 40g. A supra that is 12 years old.

My .2c, no hating just bringing the facts. Please don't misinterpret me, I love a Supra, i could have one or two in my garage, I just could never justify a dime over what that car is really worth($15000 tops).

So how do you really feel .

From the 2JZ-GTE iron block, to the V160 Getrag tranny, to the freaking stock axles that seem to survive an inordinate amount of power; the car is probably one of the most overengineered cars in recent memory.

Though the prices are very high for the car; you have to consider how relatively few Supra TT's are in this country, the age of the car (which further eliminates the number of good Supra TT's on the road, and the aforementioned power capabilities which makes them quite a fringe collectors item.

It's no 1954 Mercedes 300SL but for the niche group of import enthusiasts it surely has great value.

However, like you said, better performance deals can be had at that price.

Nonetheless, I love the car (ever since the early 1990's when I was in High School and reading car mags in class).

I wouldn't mind picking one up for a better price though .

All of you have very good points and such.. the main reasons i want a supra i have liked them for years... Anyone that wants one because of the FF movie is just stupid.. and thats not a reason for wanting a car... i mean our evo's are dropping price like crazy.. even in the nada or kbb the supra still is in the upper 20's... lets just say this how about the one i found it was in the nada for 28 and it was new for about 40 so it only lost 12 thousand by nada value... our cars brand new have lost more value then that for less years... dont you all think...
