Depends on price point and if you want a raw car, or more refined car. Some good choice by price are:

Miata under $10k
RX7 $13k
Evo IX $20k
Evo X $30k
Elise $30k
Cayman S $33k
Early 2000's 991 Turbo $42k
ZO6 $47k

Then there is the possiblity of owning a rare JDM Car. All depends on your desires. Countless possibilities.

Lancia Delta HF (4WD and Integrale variants)
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (9 and 9.5 wagon as well)
Porsche 911 turbo (starting from 993)
Porsche 959
Subaru Impreza WRX (and all subclasses)
Toyota Celica GT-Four ST165/ST185/ST205

Can't think of any more, Veyron wouldn't count since its auto tranny.

Subaru Legacy B4

Nissan GT-R not included on the list, same reason as Veyron.

If you want to try something different than AWD but really proven then you can't go wrong with a used C5 Z06. These cars are a bargain, many owners ran high 11's with a set of drag radials and close to 120mph with tune and air filters, they handle great and they are fast out of the box without hurting the pocket.

You can also pick a used 335i for mid 20's, it would not dissapoint you at all, a mere $1000 will put you in mid 12's and trapping around 115mph.

The list is huge, too many cars to list. Maybe you are like me, I just love cars, I ike to own and try many cars so I wouldn't stop doing it as long as I have the means(time and money).

Last but not least, look at the used M-3s, they are awesome quality cars and they are fairly fast as well.

i just got an E30 M3. that car is fantastic to slide around and the interaction with the car is outstanding because of how well it communicates when you really want it. the way the steering goes light, how instantly you'll pick up small variations in yaw.

btw, i just weighed the car this morning: 2920 with driver, 8 out of 12 gallons in the tank. full interior, AC removed, i weigh 170lbs, making 2750lbs. 53/47 front to rear weight distribution.

frankly, i wouldn't go for another awd/ big power car in your position, get something that is significantly less perfect than an evo. miata, civic, E30 M3, cars that are definitely uncool but very entertaining. it will make you appreciate the evo more and make it that much more epic when you get another one.

Have had, and still have many fun cars. It doesn't hurt to try a little something different every once and a while. Different cars are fun for different reasons. I love the underpowered RX8 almost as much as my Z06. It's more fun to take around corners even though the Z06 is no slouch around a corner in its own right.

Have fun choosing. Test drive everything!

Dude, you changed platforms like 3 times in as many years. Mod the sheet out of the car and sold it. I don't get it. You were all over evom, arranging tuning trips etc. Then the next thing I see you want advice for the next car bastardization. WTF? Meanwhile, some of us are still enjoying our evos, since like 03'.

keep in mind that u live in IL, and if this is your daily u gonna want to keep the AWD. A BMW, benz, lotus, vette are not gonna do well in the weather we get and all the snow. even with snow tires im sure an awd is gonna be funner in the snow.

i would go buy another evo and try building it different to keep your interest. its gonna be hard finding a car that has awd, with the weight and power to make it comparable to an evo. really the only upgrade i see is a skyline but i wouldnt drive a skyline in the snow here in IL.

in the end it all depend on ur plans for the car. when u figure out what the car is supposed to do, then u narrow down ur platform. so figure if its a daily cruiser, autox car, drag car, highway car, etc. the evo can do it all. u just have to chose the parts right.

I totally understand where your coming from. I've also had an Evo an STi and a turbo'd forester. I liked all three but I'm looking at future cars too and to be honest the older I get the more I appriciate the refinement of the BMW's and Mercedes. I also owned a 2004 BMW M3 with the SMG tranny and I gatta say that was a great upgrade from my Evo. If your just a track junkie then a moded out evo is tough to beat but for me there are other features I look for besides just can the car turn and accelerate.

I'm looking at a M3 or posibly a mercedes SLK55/SL500 (barely used) for my next upgrade. Their style and luxury blow away the STi/Evo types they have more power out of the box and you aren't "the kid in the rice burner" anymore.
