Which civic for DD?
Which civic for DD?
Hey all, I am still trying to figure out what to trade in my DD on.
I am thinking maybe a Civic, but I am not sure if it is worth the extra 10k to go from the stripped base model to the Si. I can do a test drive, but they are not going to let me thrash it so I probably won't get a real feel for the benefits of the Si. I would be getting the Si just because it is a more fun car to toss around, not because of any creature comforts, so basically just wondering about the fun to drive factor.
What do you all think?

If you are byuing something on the Civic SI category then you have a few other better choices like:
VW GTI
Cobalt SS
Mini Cooper S
Mazdaspeed3
The SI lacks of torque and when compare to the cars above it plays the game with disavantage. Also the cars above could be chipped to a much higher power levels where the SI will sink even more. What do you drive now?

Go for the Speed3, its a bit faster and very very usable. A little on the bland side, but show or go? My friend is buying one next week. Ill let you know how it rolls

Ok I posted pretty hastily, so here is kinda how it works. I don't like hatches. Nothing wrong with them, I just don't like them. That eliminates Mini (driven a few, even on track, don't want), Gti, MS3.
What I want is a DD that is going to be reliable and low maintenance, but not put me to sleep. I like revvy engines because they force you to be involved in what is going on. I have the Evo for weekends so no need for a real pocket rocket. I am building a RWD spec car for the track. So I don't really need something as focused as a Cobalt. My Evo's interior is already low rent enough lol
Civic seems to be just sporty enough, but also just nice enough. My main questions was how much of a step up in performance is the Si vs the base civic. 24k vs 15k is only 9 k, but that is a 60% increase in cost. Is it worth it? My DD I should get about 10k in trade in, so it is really the difference between 5K and 14K as far as out of pocket. Like I said originally, I doubt they are going to let me wring out the cars well enough to get a real feel for them.
Or is there something else in the coupe/manual tranny that I should be considering in the price range?
I was originally going to buy a truck so that is mostly what I know about as far as new cars, but I figure I can borrow one from work so no need lol

si sedan would be best all rounder, no worries about warming it up or turbo timing it, just get in and go. You can een get them with a nav system. Probably the most reliable out of the bunch as well.
