Just dreaming...but possible?

So I sold off my EVO yesterday to make way for the family hauler - third child is nine weeks old now! Gratz me. So I'm going with a basic Honda Pilot that I can pay off by next spring...to make way for a new toy that will be garaged.

I had an STi and then the EVO and absolutely love the concept of I4 turbo cars mated with the beauty of AWD. However, if they made smaller (lighter) versions in a coupe format that would be amazing. I was excited when I heard Toyota had bought a commanding interest in Subaru and a new STi/Celica would be born, but that supposedly has been put on hold due to the economy.

So, I was looking at the Lotus Exige/Elise and maybe picking one up that was a few years old for close to the price of a new EVO. However, I can't dig up much on high hp turbo kits for the Toyota motor in these ~400hp or so seems the max. So I was thinking a 4G63 swap in an 1800 lbs Lotus with a 35R/Red would be absolutely disgusting.

Is this even possible or has anyone heard of dropping the 4G63 in other vehicles? I know the H Coupe kinda fills my wish list, but looking for something a tad more unique.

Bored and daydreaming..

Anything is possible if you have the money to make it happen

Look into the Lotus Exige S (supercharged). I think they are hot.

I looked into doing something like this about 2 years ago. It will be expensive. You will need to use a dsm motor and trans just because of the lotus engine bay layout. There have been several of these done with honda k series motors.

I don't see the need for more than 400whp in an 1800lb car.

300+ WHP in an Elise is wild. 400 is silly. There isn't a lot of room for more tire than a 245, and the power:weight with 300 HP is around 6 - consider a Z06 is around 6.5. I suppose if your goal is to melt tires and/or wrap the car around a pole, 400 is worth doing.

This is something i was considering myself, but I couldn't find a lot of info on engine setups and costs, i'm very curious if anyone could clue me in as well.

The turbo kits have the exotic car tax (also known as BMW tax) ie: same stuff costs 2-3x more.

Supercharger only nets you about 220-240hp. It's also questionable how much that engine can put up with. A k series swap would seem ideal I think. Nice reliable horse power.

So yea, any links or info?

275 HP turbo kit using a GT28.

More pictures.

The Toyota 1.8L block really lacks headroom. I don't know about any motor swaps, but it almost seems like it'd be a better place to start.
