More than it would in an Evo, but not nearly as bad as people think. I'm guessing 2-3k? I'm no expert though, but I know it isn't that expensive. It's easy to pull lots of power out of the 6 cyl twin-turbo.

shouldnt this be in a bmw forum?
Yep, because people who have other cars don't belong on EvoM. But it should go in Other Cars, IMO. But it does make a little sense that it is in here since he was going to get a X MR and got something else instead.

And to the OP: Wise choice, that's what I would do (and would've back when I bought the Porsche) if it weren't for the bad weather here. A 335xi with all the options would've been around 50k, and I wasn't willing to spend that, especially since the xi didn't feel as sporty to me as the i. And if it was between a 335i or a X MR, I'd get the 335 hands down.

ahh amazing car to buy
but i wouldnt buy one because 2 reasons
1: you wont mod it if your smart, cuz if u void warranty and **** breaks ur effed
2: as like every other bmw this car will be over played and over priced and every guy on the block will have one

my brother had a m5 it was amazing but when **** started ****in up wit the car he had to sell it or pay wayy to much to keep it

My philosophy when it comes to BMW's is get ///M or get out. I drove the 335i, but apart from the smooth torque it didn't feel like a special car at all. I guess it would be alright for your wife, but I like my cars to be more than 1 dimensional. I would be in an E92 M3 right now if I could justify the expense right now, but im happy with the Evo X cause it provides a thoroughly satisfying sports car experience(straight line speed, good breaking, AND phenomenal handling) while also being daily drivable.

Congrats on the car still. You could have certainly done a lot worse.

At least he has a warranty if he doesn't mod it You have no warranty no matter what you do with a X.

Plus, you can do the same thing with a 335 that you do with another car, mod it, and take it back to stock if something happens.

This is my bimmer (335i)

mods are cheaper than you would expect

piggyback $500
catless dps $700
intake $80
front mount $1000

that'll get you 440whp on race gas...

an m3 will not come close to any 35 (n54 engine) unless Forced Induction is introduced (coming soon)

very fast car for such little mods

baseline is like 265rwhp and getting to 440whp nets you 175 over stock

and it's not as heavy as people think, ~3400 lbs

OP check out www.e90post.com/forums (or actually better not, unless you want to spend ALOT of money on mods haha)

a 335i with:
piggyback tune
drag radials in the rear
unleaded race gas

did 11.7@119

that's really no joke...

you should have bought the X MR, or at least a 5 series IMO. The 3 series is small, I owned a 318 in Germany. Turbos are great I don't think I ever want another vehicle without a turbo. Well maybe a SUV without one.

You do know the 335i has TWO turbos right? And they aren't that small either... Plenty big enough. My only other complaint about the 3 series other than price is that EVERYONE has one. From little old ladies, to young kids, to all sorts of in between. Some are stock, and some look really amazing and are modded like the above. And some look horrible, with super smoked tails and giant chrome wheels... Point is, I see 335s all the time. The only time I see any that I think is special at all are the ones with spoilers of some kind, since that seems a bit more rare.

So far I love the car and think made the right decision as my wife would be driving the car evryday ( I drive a civic hybrid to work 120 miles evryday). I feel incomplete that I dont have an EVO that I always wanted and at the same time very happy with the 335i. Just wanted to share my experience........
This is an EvoM Newbie Thread and you post that you got a 335? LAME!!!

oh no, I was unaware they were turbo'd. I was assuming 335i was a typical 3 series 3.5L inline/fuel injected, non turboed car. Thanks for the heads up, My bad. The lack of four doors though, Like I said before, I would have went with a 5 series. Sorry guy I owned my bimmer in 2002 alot has changed, with BMW since then.

I'm still standing by the: Turbos are great I don't think I ever want another vehicle without a turbo.

That 3 series posted above has 4 doors as well.

Why would you want a 5 series when the 3 is a big enough car (inside and out) and twin turbo?

i dont like 5 series personally

the turbos are small, mitsubishi actually makes them haha TD03s (two of em)

they can take a beating though, they are so often run so far outside the compressor map and still hold up, there have been like 3 turbo failures since 2007 out of thousands of modders, and 2 of them were completely stock (ones that were posted on the forum atleast)

those little snails hold up to like 19psi on race gas, no joke

one tuner got 460whp out of the stock turbos on vp ms 109

another got like 450whp on 91 oct and meth

ASR even upgraded compressor wheel, etc and made 537whp on 93 oct and meth

BMW is changing for the better, wait until the Ms start getting forced induction

that twin turbo V8 drops in a few months
