The evo is gone, now what?

It's REALLY hard finding another Evo. I've been searching for a few weeks now, went to look at one, had a 5th gear grind and out of warranty, so I passed it up. Other than that I can't find any in my area.

I'm thinking of either buying/bulidng a 302 Monster Miata, buying/building an LS1 FD RX-7, S2000 and turbocharge it, a used G8 or a used GTO.

What would you people do? I'm leaning mostly toward the S2000 because they're afforadable, relativly easy to find and an overall great car. I think I'd be VERY happy for the first week or so, because I have drivien S2000's and I love them, but I'm afriad that I'll buy one and it'll be a disappointment after a few weeks due to the performance compared to my Evo which had 320+ whp.

I want to buy a car that doesn't make me forget about the Evo, because that's impossible, but I don't want to buy a car and regret NOT buying another Evo.

Remember, an Evo is my first choice, but it's getting hard to find one that isn't over priced, molested, high mileage or silver. No offense to Apex Silver owners, but I'd say 50% of Evo's I see anywhere and everywhere, are silver... no blue red or Yellow either. I'm looking for black or I'd settle with graphite

What do you guys think? This isn't my DD by the way

I wouldn't buy any of the above. I think if I had to choose another car, it'd be a GT-R or a 370z.... maybe 350z

Keep in mind, I'm not in the position to pay for a car in the GT-R price range. I never was and probably never will be

I've been thinking about possibly a Genesis, but with a sub-$20k budget, I'm not too sure.

If you're going for sub-20k, I'd definitely go for a used 350z if you can't find an evo for sub 20k. Good luck!

if it is not your daily driver i would hold out for the evo. I just got my evo and i have owned plenty of turbocharged cars and there is nothing like a evo...just my opinion

My father is selling his GG IX MR. Absolute mint condition (still has the ACD sticker on the driver side door lol). Not sure on the mileage I want to say it's under 20k. Bone stock never modded, driven about 2 or 3 days a week, and has been babied since day one when he bought it brand new off the show room floor. Also has factory warranty. PM me if you interested. I will tell you straight up his asking a little more than what a normal IX MR would go for since it's in excellent condition and the way it's been treated.

The LS1 is a great engine. They’re cheap and easy to modify. I don’t know how much of a pain it is to swap one in a RX-7. If you’re on a 20K budget you could get a C5 Z06. I gave the Z06 a lot of thought before getting my Evo. I had a S2000 and to take it to the track I had to have my girlfriend follow me with my gear. I’m very happy with my decision but if I were to have picked another car it’d be a Vette.
Good luck.

The kit to install an LS1 into an RX-7 runs under $4k. That's NOT including the LS1 and trans. Plus the price of an RX-7. I've found a few already build between $15-20k. Sure I'd be buying a "built" car, but whatever.

C5 Zo6 would definatly be sweet. But can they be had for under $20k?

I can find plenty of Evo's, but they're all ugly colors, a little too far away, or not in very good shape. There is a white one, local, but it's pretty molested. Cheap though.

I'm starting to give Hyundia Genesis's some thought, but they're over my budget.

I'm at a tough spot with buying another Evo. Though I'd LOVE to buy another one because they're amazing cars, probably the best car I've ever driven but, I feel like maybe it's time for a change. I feel like I'd always be kicking my self for not buying another Evo. But if I do buy another Evo, then I'll feel like it's nothing new, and plus, I'll be so dissapointed because this past weekend was the first time I've driven a stock Evo in 2 years and my GOD was it SLOW!!! Not like an S2000 is fast, but it's a different kind of slow, and expected to be slow, hahaha.

An Evo X would be AWEOSME. Again, over budget. And while it's slow, it has the same reponce to bolt-ons as the old Evo's. The thing I like about the Evo X is it's a nice change from my VIII, but it's still an Evo

It's such a tough decsion to make. A few years ago, I'd LOVE to be in this situation. It's like hearing somebody complain... "Do I buy the F430 Scuderia, or do I go with the Gallardo LP560? Or do I just keep it simple an buy a used 360 Stradale?" Ohh the horror...Well years ago, I'd be thinking the same thing about myself now.... why complain about not being able to choose between an LS1 Rx-7, Evo, s2000, etc. Not being able to chose between such cars is a DREAM to most 16 year olds, haha.

Ohh well, hopefully I do something soon. I can't stand this nice weather without a car to have fun with!

On a side note, I owed $16,000.34 on my VIII. I'm getting back $17,800 ($250 deductable), so I'll be making $1550! Please if my Turbo Mirage sells soon, there's more money for a decent downpayment on something!

The Evo was stricly a toy. Weekends, some evenings, and maybe to work once a month. I did get driven in the snow, but again, that was stricly or fun

I don't need a car good in the snow, I don't need a car that's comfortable for dail driving. Comfortable enough for street use is important though. I don't want a stripped down race car, but I'm not specificly looking for comfort.

I'm really leaning towards an s2000, but I'm also thinking maybe I'll just stretch the budget and try to find a used Evo X. I've seen them as low as $24,000 already with 15,000ish miles. Sure I could get another VIII, or IX for that much, easy. But like I said, I do want something different but I still want an Evo... so a X is perfect. It's not the car I used to have, but still, indeed, an Evo I just wish they were a little less money
