What new daily driver would you get?
Why is it that, whenever someone posts a "help me pick a DD" thread, 75% of the people completely ignore the user's requirements and start tossing out cars that are above and beyond the price range and practicality level needed in a DD?
Saw the Kia Soul in person the other day. I couldn't believe that the speakers actually light up like they do in the commercial
As far as small, efficient, cheap, and practical goes, you're looking at the right cars. I'd personally go with a Fit, as it won't be an obscure car, parts will be less of a challenge. Scion xB would be another good choice. Or wait for the new Ford Fiesta. Top Gear gave it a great review when they had it on their show.
Can't stand the Nissan Cube, it's not symmetrical, damn it.

IMHO, I haven´t driven the Soul nor the new Xb, but for some reason something does draw me to it...I think it´s kinda flashy especially for an econobox. It might be slow, but I would try it before the Xb since it seems to be a better packaged car, and with hyundai´s rising reputation, Kia´s should also be on the rise.
Been thinking on getting a DD myself and I was going to a Xion, a Kia, or a Honda fit. If its a DD it had to be comfortable, easy to drive and maintain, and good MPG.
My dad wrecked his toyota last month and the insurance rented him out a 09 kio rio for 2 weeks. I drove the car down to the bay on a saturday and let me tell you, I was very impressed. The car ran real comfortably and for that tiny car it packed some good power even going up the hills with the ac on blast. The gas mileage was most impressive. Left home with full tank, drove down to the bay, took the wife on a shopping spree, did some sight seeing around town, drove back home and still had half full tank.
Hammer.
My vote is with the Fit, I've driven on and it's a fun little econobox and I can assure you Honda won't let you down.

I just picked up a used 2006 MX-5 miata. Grand Touring trim, great shape --- 30k miles.
Cheap. Reliable. Convertible.
I have to admit that the ladies like it way better than the Evo. Except that the age groups are WAY off!
For instance, if the girl is 16 -- she loves it.
DANGER!
If the girl is 20 to 35 -- it's invisible.
SUCKS.
If the girl is approaching retirement age -- she'll hit on you.
DANGER?
I'm about to apply for the personalized plate:

But the Evo still rocks my socks, yo.

My daily driver is a 05 Subaru Impreza RS with the sports package. Price is decent, good on gas, decent on acceleration, great in handling (esp the winter) and never left me hanging/stranded anywhere. I bought my first ever Mitsubishi ever today; the 09 RA and I love everything about it. I've been a Subaru driver for nearly 8 years and I wanted to give the competition a chance and it looks as if the competition more than just sold me! The new RA is definitely more refined than my '04 WRX and beats the price margin by nearly $3000 vice the WRX (not the WRX265) out here in Freddy!

Granted although we can't actually turn into hamsters, we can still look cool rolling in one.
