The Cobalt-specifit kit is supposed to be out later this month, with a stage 2 (an intake) in a few more months. There is a ton of power to be made on a completely stock motor. Cheap is exactly why I bought this car. Cheap to own, cheap to operate, cheap to maintain. You can't help but liking it when you drive it though. The whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts. And feature-wise, this car has more than any car I've ever had. I can set the upper and lower RPMs on the shift light for each gear, for instance. Tirerack has a bunch of rims so I'm not worried about that.

I own one of these cars as well. 2008 Cobalt SS Coupe. It's actually currently in the bodyshop right now as I hit a deer last weekend.

Anyways, I'm new to these forums. Nice to meet you guys. My buddy currently is looking at an Evo and was looking for a good forum and he found these. Nice community that you guys have here.

As far as the actual car itself... this thing is a absolute beast for under $20,000 (what I paid for it). Great gas mileage, cheap car, cheap power. For a few hundred dollars, you can get an aftermarket tune that opens the LNF motor up. What's more important to me however is the factory warranty, so I'm waiting for the above mentioned GM Kit.

I'm only 22 and it's the only thing that I could afford for a cheap thrill so to speak. lol So far, I love it and have no complaints.

You can get a new one for under 20k? I started to look at them, but they sticker at around 26k with all the options-a bit much I thought when you can get an awd RA or WRX for the same price...

I agree. I was going between 30-40 MPH, but it still racked up about $6,000 in damage.

Yes sir. Especially with the state of GM. I actually bought mine on Valentines Day. I bought it for a little over $18,000 and it only had 190 miles on it so they had to consider it used. The only reason that it had 190 miles on it is because they had to drive it from a dealer that had closed down in Wisconsin to the dealer where I ended up getting it from. First owner and bought her basically brand new for $18,000. It's the only way I pulled the trigger.

Minnesota laws must be tough, because that would still be a new car most anywhere else. I wager your paperwork and title still says its a new car and you as the original owner. You must mean they just gave you a smokin' deal because most dealers are hurting right now.
