Check out my uncles 1958 356A Speedster. He purchased it new over 50 years ago. Had it restored not long ago. It won Honerable Judges Choice Award and Peoples Choice Award at the 08 50th Anversery PCA. Check out his web site it's www.1958speedster356a.com. For some reason it won't let me copy and paste the link.

I like some classic sports/muscle cars but don't ever see myself getting one. He also has a first gen RX7, 1983 I think? My cousin just finished ground up restoration of a 1971 Chevelle SS. Bought the car completly disasembled, over $50,000 invested, painted red with white stripes. Beutiful car but I still like my Evo better.
I seen a few in person and they are one of my all time favorite classic but it would be uncomprehensible for me to even consider one for the prices that they go.
.
There are a few companies in Cali that actually built real replicas with the Porsche Copyright and they are fitted with VW 1.8l engines, 5 speed and A/C, additionally you can order the 2.2l.
A Porsche 356 kit car would go for around $15000 but unless you are a very car enthusiast like me you wouldn't even know the car enough to tell the difference between the real deal and the replica. The stocker 1.5l is also very weak .
