Brain flash on STI? vs EVO
Brain flash on STI? vs EVO
this might not be a news any more,
but looks like that is issue on the new STI, that need to some sort of brain reflash?
is that true the torque drop to around 280ft lbs?
anyway, i am not insulting or anything,
i always like EVO and STI, borrowing about the web and find a link about the ECU reflash on STI,
i thought STI comes out a brain reflash like EVO does to gain hp,
supprisely it's a recall.
here is the Link

Yep, has to do with all the detonation problems they've been having. God forbid, what's going to happen after a mod on that car. I'm much happier sitting where I am right now, having an engine that is proven and won't have problems like that.

We found that the detonation problem with the earlier STis is caused by a glitch in the knock learning system. Not because they were too aggressively tuned from the factory. In fact, once we discovered and isolated the mapping glitch, we were able to extract another 25-30 wheel hp by just installing and tuning an XEDE. There is quite a bit of room for improvement.
