Should I buy an RS4?

Hi guys,

I've been thinking of selling my 2003 Evo. I've initially made my mind that I'll buy a E90 M3 with M-DCT this winter.

However, I was offered a fantastic deal for an 2008 Audi RS4 with all the bells and whistles from a private seller. The car checks out okay, with full warranty and even extended servicing included up to 50k.

My question is, should I jump on it? Would you buy a RS4 over the new M3?

If you've driven the RS4, do you notice the weight increase vs a 3200lb Evo?
What do you dislike the most about the car?

I'm not sure if it's a significant upgrade to even the Evo. What do you think?

Its definetly a step up in almost every category. Unless you track or autocross your evo all the time, you will probably enjoy the RS4 a lot. The interior is awesome, good power, decent handling, and AWD. But the evo still handles better, especially on the track/auto-x. I mean, the audi is nearly twice the price of an evo (when both were new), what do you expect, it to be a peice of junk?

^^^ I second that. I had a 225 Quattro TT and its first time in the shop was the last time in the shop with me as the owner.

5,000 for all electrical issues.

^ aside form maintenance costs any other reservations?

Btw, the car's warrenty runs out late 2011, and the previous owner purchased the extended maintenance for up to 50k, so I'm cover until then.

Ha! I didn't expect it to be crap, but my question actually implied the "fun to drive" factor, is that a significant upgrade from the Evo?

In reference to the fun factor, the RS4's are a blast to drive, as are the RS6's. The car is extremely comfortable and has plenty of power behind it. It's an entirely diffrent feeling from the evo. Quiet (so to speak), comfortable, and has a decent amount of smooth power.

I havean E39 M5 and my evo at the same time, Driving the two cars is a night and day diffrence, but I still would of preferred and RS4 or RS6 to the BMW.

My choice would be an m6, the car in factory form can beat a lambo. and its a 100k car selling for 50k. What a deal.

You will definitely feel the weight difference between both cars, an Evo w/ MBC, TBE and tune will beat an RS4 just for reference. Its still an amazing car and if you want it, go have fun with it.

Even though it's a great deal for the Audi, I'm still hesitant as I really want the M3 sedan. From all the reviews and comparisons of the two cars, the M3 comes out on top in every category other than the subjective "looks" category.
