There is some truth to this.

 

Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz still retains the brand identity in their cars' designs but they are getting more and more bland, except maybe SLR, R8, SL, SLK and TT. I guess ever increasing safety standards and demand for space and features really limits them from having more bold designs like their past cars. What is even more worrying is their ever-increasing model line up, engines and parts bin sharing. A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A8, Q5, Q7, R8, TT and their S and RS variants for Audi, 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, Z4, X1, X3, X5, X6 and their M variants for BMW, A, B, C, CL, CLC, CLK, CLS, E, G, GL, M, R, S, SL, SLK, SLR (soon SLS), V for Mercedes, and their bazillion engine choices including diesel and hybrid in Europe. Look up their respective line ups and engine choices 15 years ago and you will be amazed.

Heh, that Galant concept looks like angled Audi front, S class body, with Lexus IS tail lights.

When did Audi supposedly invent this trapezoidal grille? My '98 (whose bumper came out in '97) has a similar shape up front.
