another Sti test drive
another Sti test drive
still trying to make my decision between the Evo and the Sti, so i went and test drove another Sti this morning...this one was used with 6500 miles on it, so i could ring it out a little more...let me tell you, this thing has some freakin' power, i bounced it off the rev limiter a couple times and it is really fast...it still doesn't handle as well as the Evo, turn in is SLOW, but man does it fly...i'm more confused than ever...the interior is pretty nice as well, the seats are a little wide, but i'm a big guy so they fit me well...
i thought my decision had been made, but now i'm rethinking it...HELP...

Just test drove the STi a little today.
The STi has a very linear power delivery it seems and there really isnt much of a "turbo kick". Lots of torque and it felt like driving a big displacement engine, rather than a turbocharged engine.
The suspension isnt very stiff and when going over humps, the back end bounced a lot.
The hoodscoop is very visible and does get in the way sometimes.
By comparison, the Evo has super sharp steering and a much stiffer suspension. There is much less torque and the "turbo kick" is felt a lot more.
Clutch in the STi is easy to modulate and not a stiff clutch, which is good for daily driving. The Evo's clutch is very stiff, very "on/off" type of clutch which makes for daily driving a pain sometimes.
The shifter in the STi is ok but I prefer the Evo's shifter, probably because I am more used to it. The Evo's shifter seems to be more precise.
Both cars are awesome, I feel.
Personally, I prefer the Evo as it has more of a "race-car" feel to it. Unfortunately, the STi is cheaper for me.

Both are great cars, I went with the STi because the EVO felt to high strung for daily driving ( to hard all around ). If you do much real world driving ( commuting, grocerys, trips, etc ) you will enjoy the softer edges of the STi.

Try driving the STi or the RSX and both clutches are much easier to use than the Evo's clutch. The Evo's clutch is stiffer and much more "on/off".
On the Evo, when i shift from 1st to 2nd, my shifting might not be smooth and it could be due to my crappy shifting style
On the STi and RSX, i never get the jerkiness going from 1st to 2nd.
