Traded Evo For GTR.....
anyone who mods their gt-r better have boatloads of money.. sooner or later that trans will inevitably go.. could be one year, maybe three - but once it does...
To beat a:
Stock one - Full bolt-ons + Pump gas + FPRed or similar(~430whp dynojet)
Modded one - Above mods + E85(~530whp dynojet), a GTR with those mods usually runs low low 11's
You have to remember though you better not miss a gear or mess up on the launch because all the GTR guy has to do is step on the gas and go, maybe paddle shift if he wants

btw congrats OP on the new car

This is what took the GT-R off my potential next car list. I couldn't justify those kinds of maintenance costs no matter how fun the car is the drive. Maybe they'll come down and get more realistic in time.

LOL...they paid $115 labor to have the dealership change the air filters, $150 to change the oil, and $500 for the trans and diff fluid.
Those are things can be easily done by anyone with some mechanical abilities.
As for the cost of the Nissan oil. It's just greedy markup by the dealership. I bet there's an equivalent oil by Motul or some others that can be purchased for less.
you are right on the button. I negotiated 14 free oil changes........ I will do all the other fluid changes myself. yes there is aftermarket fluid for a lot less....$$$$$

Having raced a stock one and a modded one(Cobb tune & Mid-pipe) I can tell you this...

if there is one car that i would trade my Evo for, its this one. perfect combination of exclusivity, ultimate performance, and price-tag thats within rhyme and reason...
so i would love to know how this year year has been.... so short of signing up at GTR forums, can you just update me on as much as you can about the gtr... oh, and $720 for fluids??

UPDATE: GTR is a great all around car. Drag, AutoX, road racing & streets. I have driven it all year round and absolutely love it. Nissan has designed a great vehicle.
But don't you need them to do the labor if you want to stay under warranty? Anyway, $720 sounds way too much for drivetrain fluids but thats the nature of these cars I guess.
i picked mine up in 2010.
Launch control does not void the warranty. Launching with vdc off and breaking something does. I launch with vdc in "r" mode. That does not void the warranty. I have lc2 in my car.
