Great car and all that. Only 400 units made and starting price at around $49,125 plus registration plus delivery charges plus tax. It is still a bargain(to me), it is a car that can outrun Porsche , vettes, etc.

Its kinda like Mitsubishi went with the eclipse... except you guys still have a kickass car all around... us... we get to live it up with a 3.8l V6 =) o and FWD =(

Anyways... less than 20% of 1g and 2g eclipse's sold were GSX, thats why on the 3g and 4g they went for a totally different audience, and the eclipse has sold well still.
Same goes for the lancer evo, why saturate the market with Evo X's when they can give us a little and make more money not trying to get rid of evo's

In terms of the semi-auto transmissions of "Twin Clutch" if you prefer, "better" is a relative term. They can shift faster than 99.99% of the population, does that make them "better"?

Also as far as the article about the GT-R clutches wearing I wonder how many folks putting down 500+ hp are running stock clutches is their 3rd pedal cars? The clutch pack upgraded GT-R has put down 1000+ hp. It's called an upgrade, because most OEM stuff is substandard for high(er) performance modded vehicles.

The TC-SST is new tech and it will have it's growing pains.

Honestly, every time I hear someone knocking twin clutch transmissions it's like listening to my grandfather complaining about "computer controlled" cars.

I suppose that depends on which Porsche or Vette you are talking about. At least a dozen Porsche's and a couple of Vettes have run the ring faster than a 7:55.

I have to agree with this. When I first heard the specs on the X my very first thought was "whoa, that's heavy...I'll wait for the RS model to lighten it up a bit." Naturally I'm still waiting and in the meantime have since seen the car get even heavier! Grrr.

While I can understand having one model (like the MR Touring) throwing in all of the available bells-and-whistles, I honestly believe Mitsu would move way more units if they stripped down the GSR into a "Base" or RS model. Mostly because they could advertise like Nissan did in 2003 with the 350Z. The Base was only like $26k IIRC and that's the sticker price they threw up on all of their ads. So although most people got the Enthusiast model or Touring (basically the Mitsu SSS package) for around $30-33k, they went to the dealer because of the $26k number.

So I do think the economy is a huge factor, but that's on top of the car being designed for a slightly different demographic than the 8/9's were.

Remember when the Ralliart was announced and the forums exploded with posts about it being a way to get a "cheaper Evo"? Those posts were from people who thought the X's cost-vs-performance wasn't ideal.

That happens just about any time a car comes out, people complain about the price and talk about what they wouldn't mind giving up to get the hardware much cheaper. The problem is not enough of those people actually show up at the dealerships and buy the cars should they happen to be produced.
