Possible s2k purchase

alright guys so i have a 4g64 lancer that im getting ready to rebuild and boost but the other day i came across a 2000 honda s2k, it has 99902 miles on it with a clean title and no mods except for an invidia exhaust, its black, and seems to be in great shape. the guy is asking 8300 for it, and i already got approved for the loan, now im debating purchasing it, i test drove it today and it seems like a fun car but im not sure if it will be worht putting the lancer build on hold since ill have a car payment. heres a link to the ad. let me know what you guys think.

IMO, go for a 2004 or newer. Some significant changes from 00-01 to 03. Improved tranny synchros, glass rear window, I think some change to the valve guides, etc.

04 went to the revised body style and the 2.2L engine, revised rear suspension/subframe (some guys with the older S2ks will do the entire rear subframe swap to the newer one), stronger rear diff, etc.

06+ went to drive-by-wire. You can reflash the stock ECU using the Hondata Flashpro.

If it's just going to be a cruiser, then I guess it'll be okay. But if you're actually going to use to for performance, get a newer one.

all of your imformation is right but your not going to find a s2k for 8500 in 04 and up!

if I was in the market for another car, i would sure rock an s2k for 8-8500.

if your going to mod it, it really doesn't much matter because all of that stuff might and would be changed anyways....

Its a must for a s2k to have a hard top on it though....

when your bored with that s2k, just drop in a 2jz supra motor in it and call it a day! lol

even if not faster in a straight line, the handling and the fact its rwd which is much more stable...

Im sure I will get laughed at but a car that i still mis dearly is my mazda speed miata.... That car was sooo fun and soo quick(notice i said quick, NOT FAST althought it beat my friends mustang gt lightly modded) and nimble. set of good tires and coilvers and that car was incredible.

GO GET IT KID.........

well it's price is right on target with KBB, so it's not necessarily a steal. Maybe it's something you think about and wait a bit longer on. You should be able to pick up another one at about the same price point if you decide that's what you want. Of course, I'm sure the supply of them isn't exactly vast.

BTW, I'm personally not a fan, but I'm sure they're a fun car to drive

Lol, good choice!!! I'm gonna look at getting an Evo9 or 10 when I get back... Possibly also get a s2k for a track car, can you say BOOSTED? ... I had a buudy with a boosted 02' s2k, that **** was fast!.. He ended up trading it in for a CTS-V :l
