it doesn't because the other issues I had with the car weren't related to power. the car I'm driving now with simple bolt ons and a tune will do the same to a mustang, and look better and be more comfortable while doing it...and more importantly, get better gas mileage. I don't know if you read my thread with a list of my reasons for wanting out of the X, but it's all explained in there.

Still miss the EVO IX MR I had, but I'm not a fan of the X anymore.

The new X doesn't have any different hard parts though. Just a different tune. Therefore, gains are not going to be as high as a tune on an 08, and will still be limited power wise by the turbo.

I didn't, but I bought this instead

It was a little more spendy, but well worth it to me. I've done the whole small motor, big turbo thing before, and this is way more fun

My whole issue with Mustangs as they are a “me too” car. You have a Mustang? Yeah me too. You trip over the things and yes they are cheaper as they are Domestic. That being said the new GT is a honey of a car and they do look good but again extremely common place. The motor sound is fantastic, that throaty growl is my favorite engine sound. That live rear upsets me a lil, I am sure on even pavement it is fine but that thing will dance around if it gets unsettled. I think the main reason the Mustang hangs with the M3 is the mid rang power it has over the 4.0 BMW V8, the power is always there, something the BMW or the Evo just doesn’t have.

All this being said I would get the Mustang, change of pace, I never owned a domestic before (Eagle Talon count?) cheaper to mod, easy to fix, sounds good, I would have to get the Mustang.

What I don’t understand is why they aren’t faster than the power suggest? The Shelby Super Snake traps at 128MPH with 750HP, I would imagine it would be in the 135 range with that power. When you compare the GT500 to the C6 Z06 it gets **** upon in every way by a car with less power and is NA. I would much rather have the Vette.

Not very common down here. There area more GTOs in my work parking lot.

Will be testing that live rear end this weekend at Winged Warrior. I'll update my Mustang thread then.

Weight and gearing. The Mustang is 35xx, Vettes are still 32xx.

Traction. The 750hp SS actually makes around 640whp. In good air, stock blower cars with ~600whp trap around 130. The SS only runs 275mm rear tires.

I've owned an EVO X and now a 2012 Mustang GT I can say it's a pretty apples to oranges comparison. To me the EVO X felt like a small, light car even though it really wasn't but the Mustang is a big heavy car and it feels like it. However it has a more refined ride on the street (I have the Brembo performance package) and still handles surprisingly well. The Mustang interior is also a nicer place to be and the NAV system with sync performs better than the top of the line Alpine INA-W900 I installed in my EVO. The minus though is the seats. They are made for 45+ year old fat men and have no support. A huge downgrade from the EVO X Recaros wich to me were perfect.

The engine is the real difference maker. The 5.0L Coyote is such a jewel. Power everywhere up to 7000 RPM and a beautiful growl. I turn down the radio just to listen to the beatiful engine note as it's highly addictive. The 4B11 is a great little engine and with a tune has a nice fat midrange but it doesn't have the linear torque at all times feel nor the audible quality as combined with the TC-SST my EVO sounded like it had a jet engine more than an internal combustion engine. I still can't get over how much I love the 5.0L engine its that good.

One downside to the Mustang is the 6-speed transmission. It's made in China and isn't bulletproof as lots of issues with 2nd and 3rd gear grinding have been reported by owners. Mine's been great but I'm not out of the woods as it's definately the weak point of the car.

I loved my EVO but I also love my Mustang. For twisty roads the EVO felt more tossable and fun but for daily driving and acting juvenile the Mustang for sure.

Reports of the trans issue was on early (pre-April) cars. I have an October built trans with zero issues.
