Ok...for pure performance out of the box I'd say the GSX (I like 2G's myself but hey...). Gotta love that 4G63 engine and AWD. While yes, the IS uses the 2JZ-GTE(?) that the Supra does, you'll need a lot of green to get that blistering speed (turbo) where as with the GSX you'll need to up the boost and do some other smaller things. I say go GSX...

How can you really determine which one is a good deal or not without knowing the mileage?
Lexus IS300 is an awesome car....(I think Lancers look a little bit like them)
My plan is to get one and give the Lancer to my wife in a few years....but then again EVO....

Of course I'd say go for the GSX. I think 2G's look a whole lot
better then 1G's and the chances of a '99 having CW are a lot lower.
Besides, it'll take a hearty investment to get that IS up to high
horsepower, when it only takes about 1500-2000 in a DSM to start
breaking off Mustangs and pacing Z-28's. And if you don't want that
GSX for 13K tell me where it is...

Thanks, I probibly will get the GSX, its a better price and more of what I want to do with a car.
When I was thinking of the is I was thinking of the HUGE hoursepower you can get with a supra yet with less wight than a supra. But then agian... What Ill have to pay to get it there would be outragous.
Plus, I perfer AWD, and the 4G63.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!
You people are complete idiots! The Lexus IS 300 is not all it's meant to be. You get a small car with very low stock power, little aftermarket productions (to make it go faster) and the crappy styling of a piece of **** Lexus, and then the best part! The price tag of a Lexus! The Eclipses are wonderful cars. I own a Spyder GS and it is the fastest car i have ever raced (if i could race my self). Definately go for the Eclipse and dont listen to these idiots, you get better quality, a lot more speed, and the satisfaction of knowing you own a

Please do some reserach before making any bold statement like this. Do you really know what is the spec for the IS? You can dislike the car; however, you can't make others agree with you and start name calling. I have nothing against the Eclipse, however, each person has their own preference and their own needs. Not everyone wants to racing day and night. Again, please be objective and rational. If you can't be that way, sorry, I'll have to remove your posts.

First of all, I own a Honda Civic, just not proud enough to post it 
. Secondly, yes I have read the specs of an IS, and guess what bud...i drove one. As for handling, sure it handles like a high priced foreign car. As for speed...specs can not explain a car's speed. The IS is about as slow as my grandma's Ford Escort, not to be a hater

I agree with cincy as well . . . BOV's are amazing . . I love the way they sound on eclipses especially - - - and i was at a car show a few weeks back and this guy had a ridiculously hooked up 3000GT with a BOV - - he was revvvvvvving the **** out of his engine and it sounded amazing!!
