Silvia!
Silvia!
Ive made my decision to get a silvia, but my last and only question is; is it really that hard to adapt to my evo after silvia? I know there quite different but i love silvias too, and in many aspects i think there like ev0s but in many they arent! So hard do decide? What other cars can i go wrx im thinking but... Opinions! i need Help
. Aight thanks!

silvias and evos are nothing a like... I'm speaking as an owner of two silvias and and evo... the handling charasteristics are so different... silvias can turn sharply into a corner without worries of understeer (which you don't have to worry much about with evos either), but when comming out of a corner, it's an entirely different story... with rear wheel drive cars, over steer is something that you have to worry about... now oversteer can be fun when you know how to control it... drifting man, drifting... the interior is entirely different too, being that silvias are two-by-twos... no room for regular sized people in the back... the engines are different too... the inline sr20det has a different powerband(it's smoothe as silk) but it lacks the bottom end grunt the 4g63 has... the sr20det has better top end though, being that it's bore is bigger than the 4g63... what exactly makes you not want the evo anymore? I hope you aren't getting into the drifting fad...I had two s14's and they will never compare to the fun I have in my evo man... oh well to each their own
hold up a sec, when u say silvia do u mean 240sx or do u mean a legit turbo SR20DET Silvia cause it does make a big difference. given that neither is similar to a evo but comparing a silvia to evo is still plausible while a 240sx to evo is just night and day
yea true, so I can legit say one was a silvia... the other was just a 240sx(the first one, training car...
) ... they are bad *** for sure... you will be able to adapt to an evo, it will be a little weird though, say when you take off, because you'll be waiting for a little wheel spin from the rear wheels but nothing but traction happens
... what are you exactly planning on having the silvia for anyway... daily driver? drifter?

this thread is pretty confusing to me, is the guy getting an evo or a silvia, am I reading this wrong does he make sense to anyone else, If I am not understand his thread please correct me because I am lost. I love both cars and to compare both, I must agree with evo2envy, way different characteristic. well whatever I still dont know his question, but if its just about how to get use to one another. its all ways possible, u just have to know which one ur driving in.

huge difference. our 240SX's came with the KA24DE (or KA24E if you get the 89-90 model). It was a 2.4l inline 4 NA engine with DOHC (DE) or OHC (E). in japan, they got either the CA18DET (in the 88-90 run of the silvia) which was a 1.8l turbo'd inline 4, or the all too popular SR20DET which was 2.0l turbo'd.
The 240's are a different beast from an evo for certain. RWD versus 4WD. The oversteer effect was mentioned earlier, but it stands to be mentioned again (i nearly lost it completely on the last auto-x due to rain and too much oversteer). If you're looking for a training car to get you accustomed to a stick shift with some pick up power, go get an old 1g or 2g eclipse. then upgrade to a 240 or an evo.
as for the 4g63 versus the SR20, i agree to a degree. i haven't had a chance to drive an evo yet, but my old eclipse was the earlier 4g63 model and it had a fairly strong bottom end, but i don't see that changing much with a turbo slapped on. you still need to wait for the turbo to spool up. the SR does lack a little bit until about 1.5 on the tach when the turbo begins to spool and hits full boost at 2.5.

uh, yeah...the u.s. spec 240sx is armed w/ the ka24 engine (sohc 2.4 litre non-turbo) while the real mccoy is packing the sr20det engine (dohc 2 litre turbo-charged) w/ a better upgrade path than the ka24 truck engine!!! whats is your question anyways??? if your looking for a car to prepare you for the evo then i think the closest you can get is a wrx...in terms of 4-wheel drive and turbo-charged! i mean if your set on a 240, thats cool. but both are totally different...do a little research on them. i, myself have a 240 sx fastback, and for right now its my daily commuter! still saving up for the engine swap (sr20det)to make it a real "SILVIA", then it will be my "DRIFT MACHINE" after a few other mods i'm planning on it!!! yeah but anyways, a wrx is probably a good evo prep car...dude you must be hella bling-blinging...can i be your friend!!!

have you driven an SR powered 240 yet? world of difference from the old clunker KA's. i'm in the process of getting a silvia front to graft to my car and finish the whole JDM conversion. I also need some K's badging too
hey 7... where you gonna get your engine from??? i myself drive a 240 and i'm planning on a swap too... where in the bay do you live??? maybe when you get your engine put in, i can check it out... or even better, if your putting the engine in yourself, i can help you out!!!
that would be awesome... n e waiz... i'm going through the big swap debate right now... SR20DET, CA18DET, RB25DET, or even a 2JZ <--- ultimate hybrid... what you think?
