older model mr2

ok guys i am in a bit of a bind right now and i need some advice. i recently got into an accident which was my fault. sad to say but i hit a parked mr2 while backing out of my garage. i took responsiblility and told the owner. Problem is that now she is asking for 1300 dollars for the repairs and i only hit the quarter panel. is that reasonable. and for those that were wondering how i could possibly hit a mr2, i was driving a tundra and i literally could not see that puny mr2

i think it's reasonable, quarter panels are not as easy to fix then say a door or a bumper. u should ask for the body shop receipt to confirm the price tho.

I'd say reasonable too, some of the older MR2 paint colours were a special paint mixture

well the thing is i got the receipt in front of me and for some reason it does not mention the prices of any of the items. it really only mentions the body will cost 727 and the refinish is gonna be 447. this was a bit odd cause they are charing me for frt door repairs too

The engine is at the back, so it's possible that it takes more labor hours to repair the quarter panel... As far as the front door goes, maybe they had to blend the paint?

The door frame could be damaged by a buckle in the quarter panel. Maybe this is what they're trying to charge for.

If you have doubts, go to the shop and have them show you what exactly needs to be done.

Man i totaled a 1991 mr2 turbo, my first car, I hit a house then flipped the car once....I'll post some pictures tommorow if I can find them, just for fun...
Anyway the shop told me it would cost me more to repair that car than buying a "new" used one...

MR2's are kinda rare, in 91 they imported about 9K and the #'s went down from there until 95 when only 57 or so came over. I had a 91 Turbo..that car was extremely fun but then again we were running a Greddy TD06 20g until our next rebuild when we went with a Garret GT35R (600 whp Potential)

As for the estimate, unfortunately it sounds about right.

MR2's are great little cars, I own one! Not exactly the best car for young, new drivers though...

My was imported from Canada, but that was when I still lived in Poland. After the accident I got a new Evo 5 so it was all good. My sister is driving the Evo now(it has ~ 370 000 KM, bulletproof engine).
Its hard to come by non-turbo engines, these are a lot easier and cheaper to mod, also Ive seen couple of MR2s with V6 engine swaps. It seems its very popular in these cars.

I'd say any car you flip, and on top of that hit a house, is probably gonna cost you more to repair than if you wanted a brand new one.

post pics up ASAP

i own a 86 toyota mr2, the previous driver i bought the car off of had the passenger door open and backed up unto a pole with it. just for the door to get replaced and painted the body shop quoted me $1k. i got the car used with 1006k miles on it for $900. no too shabby, but i cant see it being a rare car.
