Dare to be Seriously Different...Bling Blang

I saw the pic below and thought holry scheet...I can't believe I haven't seen anyone do this to an EVO yet.

I started doing searches to see if I could find one and found this too:

Anyone seen one? Anyone care to photoshop it to see what it might look like on the EVO? I figure there would have to be some creativity when it came to the bumpers, door handles, rear quarters, and whatnot.

Not 100% polished steel look, but here is the closest thing I think anyone has done on the forum...

In your sample pics, where is the DeLorean at? No love for back to the future?

Both cars above are polished AL like the EVO. The Delorean was stainless steel like my refrigerator.

I suppose I should have clarified that I have seen several cars with polished bodies in the past and that this isn't some ground breaking idea. I simply thought it was odd that after owning my EVO for several years and knowing it is primarily AL that I hadn't considered the idea of someone doing a polished body EVO.

It cracks me up when people say it looks ricey and would ruin the EVO when the whole concept of doing this is rooted in racing. Teams long before my old *** was born were doing this as a means to reduce weight. So, I would think if done correctly it could appear to some as more like an enhancement than not.

(I'm going to preface this next bit with this being purely academic) Considering that paint weighs approx 10lbs per gallon, plus the weight of primer, I suppose in some instances that might just be enough to make the difference.

The EVO is AL, just like the cars in the first post it would be paintless.

No. Not the paint!!! I am well aware that there is paint available. The idea is to polish the aluminum. Why would anyone paint chrome on a metal they could polish and get the same effect with less weight and a better outcome? That would be like wrapping my carbon fiber hood in carbon fiber vinyl...just plain stupid. As I metioned before, the two cars in the original post are all aluminum paneled cars.

I "could" use chrome paint on my aluminum framed sportbikes as well but why when I could just polish the metal?

well the evo is not completely aluminum so now sure how you're gonna polish non existent aluminum (except for the front)

are you telling me paint weighs alot? lol

just curious how would you polish the bumpers?

First off...my thread was specifically about looking for a polished body EVO. So why did it get moved to other the misc other cars forum? Does someone have a reading comprehension problem?

I realize that the Evo is not all AL, but neither is a Cobra. Like I said in the OP, that's where things would have to get creative. It seems to me with so many different tastes for modding that this woul have been done since there is already a good base (hood, fenders, MR roof ) for the end result. I'm a fabricator so, I don't always see things as being as limited to their original configuration as others might be inclined to believe. Bumpers, quarters, doors...likw we've never seen a part that was created from a different material than it's original.

Paint...weighs approx 10lbs per gallon. alot...not imo, but the pupose of the thread isn't about weight savings. The remark regarding the weight was directed toward the ideology that this is soley a ricer concept. I was simply illustrating that this type of "modification" was used long before the EVO and ricers ever existed.
