Smile Cordia Engines !

Just thought i'd share some marvel with you guys, here is the 4G62T.. thats a 1.8l SOHC Turbo engine that started off in the mid 80's for mitsubishi's petrol turbo craze, just before the 4G63T was developed

It runs a Fuel Injected Carby, which is a centrepoint throbttle body, and 2 injectors.. the best things to do with these, is throw them out and get hold of an older EFI setup of a SOHC 4G63.

The first turbo's which came out with them was the TC05, which ran at 10 pound boost, and ran on leaded petrol, and put out a modest 110kw..

The next series ran the TC06 and unleaded petrol, but only 6 pound of boost, and made 86kw's.

For most people when they buy the unleaded cars, they track down the TC06 turbo and echange them, as these engines are known to withsatnd 20 pound on stock internals, except they need a decent frountmount intercooler, and a fuel cut defender..

Hope i gave you guys a lil bit of help on the older Mitsi engines

Did that ever in a longitudinately mounted version? (RWD) Looks really similar in regards to even the newest 9 series and the older 6 series motors.

Actually the 4G63T was already around by then in the form of the Lancer EX Turbo and also in the Sapporo Turbo (well, at least in Europe...)
None-the-less, I realy miss the turbos. You used to be able to get a turbo in nearly any model they made, including the Colt (the Space Wagon and Pajero were never turbo;d I think...)

Perfect example: your converted 240. We got a truck engine in that to. Also though, Americans put a TON of miles on their cars and for the most part, if they're not enthusiasts, treat them like garbage. Manufacturers have to do what's in their best interest, not just what appeals to the hardest of the cores.

Yeah, also, we had something to do with our import laws our a lil bit littlier then yours, and also we don't have to modify driving position n stuff

driving position has nothing to do with what engine goes in what. If you look at the KA versus the SR, everything is identical except for the block. The intake mani and exhaust mani are on the same side as the SR, so the master cylinder really doesn't pose that much of a problem IMO.

now the import restrictions aren't necessarily the problem either. Japan got around our tarrifs of the 70's and 80's by importing the cars in pieces and finalizing assembly over here. We didn't restrict them on individual parts, just completed cars.

The restrictions came in the form of exhaust regulations. The SR over here (for example) will fail a US smog test in a heartbeat. If i were to import any J-spec motor, it will fail emissions testing.

My last reasoning why we get different engines was pretty much what paul said. americans drive the **** out of cars, and 95% of the population don't take care of them. We're also all about low end torque. You'd understand if you knew how much we had to stop for stupid redlights. Part of the low end torque theory comes from the old big engine days where just about every car came with some sort of gas hogging big block. Just look at our big sellers, Ford Trucks and SUV's. Go figure

What side is your master cylinder on ?

All you ever wanted to know about Nissan motors. God I love this link. We had the CA18 here as well but was in our Sentra and smaller cars like that. The CA is infinitely more interesting to me than the SR since it shares parts with the 300Z's motor.

Shares some same internal components from what I remember. Pistons being the only thing off the top of my head.
