The EVO is a faster, better, quicker car, and a Celica Killer? Is THAT the difference?

Imagine two four cylinders with DOHC sharing a OHC. Best analogy I can offer. It's a pretty neat set up, and VW will be using this similar engine set up in their new LeMans Supercar in Europe by next year.
I have been wanting to ask this question myself due to the fact that the claimed HP on the W8 Passat is 270 hp, and it is that unique AWD set up. I think that could be a hell of a fight between that and the Lan Evo (if the US Spec doesn't have the AYC, ACD... etc.).
As for the Celica... really is like comparing the 330ci to a Ferrari. Granted, the Celica is a good car, but, by all accounts, the Evo is a god of a car.

The lancer is fast off the line and losses a little power but if you puch to top speed it will hit 125 (but thats REALLY pushing it) though if you go to ABK (Accolade Body Kits) they do actually have a jdm EVO VI conversion ment for the US spec mirage but it can be dropped into the us spec lancer. http://www.geocities.com/dimanthaj/parts.html is the page for that performance piece.
Just to clear some things up about VW that was said earlier. I think some of this was already said but oh well...There is no W8 jetta or 4 motion jetta. There will be a 4 motion jetta coming soon though the states. And where do u get that W=V in german. Its called a W8 cause thats how the cylinders are alined. Some one had a diagram of it up. And for passat there is a W8 4motion and a V6 4motion. Any questions about VW just ask cuase my friend works at the dealer and i am a VW enthusiasts.

Hehe I bought my Celica gts in 99' and I love the car. Its really fun to drive. Now I'm going to trade it in for an Evo7 because the Evo wasn't out when I had like $27k to waste on such a dissapointing car. I also have a WRX in the process of being upgraded with a fmic and turbo.

Being an active member of Newcelica.org for over 2 years now, I have to say that ChicagoMike either is trying to start flame wars, or he is really a freakin idiot for mistaking what a few ricers on our board happened to say (yes there are ricers on all car boards.
) for the whole newcelica.org community.
1. We completely respect the Soon to be released Evo for what it is and what it does. (seems like half of the board are waiting to trade the celica up for it)
2. It was the Hotchkis Celica in SCC mag that outlapped the EVO and M3 on the road course. This car only had a drop-in filter, trd exhaust, and full hotchkis suspension on race tires.
3. The celica is a low-mid 15 second car stock, however, there have been quite a few guys running 14.9 stock and well into the low 14's with intake and exhaust. The celica community knows that the EVO is most definitely the faster car and has much more potential for more power.
4. Please don't assume something is true just because 1 person said it. I know this is just the internet and probably isnt a big deal, but I just wanted to straighten a few things out because, again, ChicagoMike is an IDIOT.

GT-S vs. OZ Rally
I have a OZ Rally + INJEN CAI + Magnaflow catback +B&M short shifter. I raced a GT-S + a body kit. We raced till about when i hit 85 (3rd gear). He was ½ a car ahead of me at that moment. Damn wannabe V-TEC Kicked in i guess

Um... not to bust your bubble, but you were racing an AUTO GT-S. Those run low 17second 1/4 mile times at best.
And just fyi, that "vtec kick" as you call it is more pronounced in the celica than any of the vtec hondas. Just compare the dynos. And that "kick" is not necessarily a good thing.
And a 6speed GT-S will probably rape you as bad as an EVO would rape a GT-S in a straight line.

last I checked dude, springs/shocks swap was MINOR...
throwing on coilovers with new swaybars and other crap is MAJOR
i find it hardly amazing that someone can throw a lot of suspension at a light car and make it handle well

the Celica GTS IS SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW
they may handle decent, and good with lots of suspension work; but that means nothing... they will never be fast; the only turbokits out there blow the motors after a month or so; and its a FWD car which makes it inferior anyway
I love Toyotas don't get me wrong, its my fav brand... but the Celica has always been the bastard child of Toyota; the little kid you keeped locked up in the cellar because its too ugly to bring out into the public...

the Celica owners that say these things are smoking crack or dropping acid

comparing a suspension modded car with lots of stuff on it to a STOCK car is ridiculous...
wanna compare apples to apples? compare a stock Celica to a EVO7

anyone that thinks their Celica is fast is smoking something... I've outrun so many GTSs it makes me sick... and in my SC300 too; which is slow as hell

And just for the record, Ive beaten an SC400's and stayed even with a few of them. Ive also ran even with a few gs400's. Ive beaten a WRX from a roll also. With your riceboy math, that means my car is faster than them all. And I'm not even good at drag racing. I know a guy who runs consistent 14.3-4 with intake and unbolted exhaust. everything else is stock. Yea that's slow compared to an EVO or a Supra, but not to the majority of cars out there.
