Need some opinions and help

This isn't really a topic for an evo forum, but I would like the expertise of some of the guys on here.

My little brother was driving home today in his Honda Civic and the engine started smoking. So he pulled over and turned the car off. Turns out the car had been burning oil and he wasn't keeping an eye on it. (No flaming please hes just a kid.)

So now the block is leaking oil from somewhere near the exhaust manifold, and is does not sound good at all. I haven't really had a chance to look at it since its been raining. The thing didn't seize, it still turns over.

My questions for everyone are, what are the possibilites of damage, how much would this cost (worst case scenario) and if it turns out not to be worth fixing, how do you go about selling the car for parts?

Thank you to everyone who has any help for me and my brother.

Actually, I just started it up, and it runs like its only hitting on 1 or 2 cylinders and is vibrating very badly.

I can't really help too much with the diagnostics. but as far as how do you sll the car for parts. find an appropriate medium, such as a honda civic forum, and list the known good parts on their. people will ask for them, and you pull the parts off the car and sell it to them. "parting out a car" is a lot of private sales of the individual components.

My first guess would be that the head gasket is toast as that could spit oil out just below the manifold. Don't know enough about Honda engines to make any other guesses.
