Introduction and an idea
Hi, my name's ferrarimanf355. I've been a car freak all my life- my first word was "Mitsubishi", so I should fit in just fine here.
Anyways, I figured that a new USDM Evo 8 was just a little out of my price range. If I bought one, I probably wouldn't have enough money to modify it. I then had a lightbulb go over my head. How about getting a '92-'95 Mirage and converting it into an Evo III? I figured that if I could find a Mirage cheap, getting a wrecked Evo III for cheap and raid it of parts, and I could build it and have enough cash left over for a blinged-out interior. Total budget: about $30-35K, about the cost of a stock Evo 8. That, of course, includes engine and transmission mods I plan to do.
So, is that a good idea?

I don't have the link, but someone did that before the Evo was imported here. While it sounds easy, the modifications to fit the AWD system are difficult at best. Modification to the frame is in order.
I have an easier idea - wait a year and buy a used one? Evos depreciate faster than you can image. Wait a year, and you should be able to pick up an early example for $20K. Probably much less costly than buying a beater Mirage, a wrecked Evo, and spending the money and time involved in melding the two.

Hey ferrarimanf355, if you are seious about doing this I can set you up with the right people for getting you the Evo III. My friend has an Evo 6.5 TME done fairly the same way. Where in florida do you live? We are in south florida area I can set up a meeting for you , belive there is a Evo III and VI there now, but I am not sure. (havent check in a while, been dealing with skylines and supras)

Well, right now, I live in Coral Springs, about a half-hour drive from Boca Raton.
Fitting the 4WD system was something that I figured would be a bit of a problem. The second concern I had was finding the proper body components to make it look like a proper Evo III.
As for finding one used for $20K, that's an option as well.

You would need the floor plan as well as the FWD Mirage will not have the space for the driveshaft to go to the rear.
What a friend did in the Philippines was to get a used JDM Evo 3 complete car and get a wrecked Mirage for the VIN and LHD steering parts and dashboard and converted the JDM car
