triumph madness
nice, moto forum. i've been riding for 6-7 years now. helps i have the luxury of miller motorsports park basically in my backyard to play on. i had a '07 triumph 675 daytona, sold that and got a '09 daytona (wearing the old '07's scorched yellow fairings), and most recently bought a '08 triumph speed triple. yeah i got a thing for british triples.

the daytona was pulling double duty as a street/track bike. its currently going full track bike mode and being rebuilt top to bottom. should be a fun spring.

Noice thanks guys. The 848 was a lot of fun. I originally wanted to find a used 1198SP or S but I couldnt find anything at the time, then I saw Ducati had a nasty deal on buying a new 848evo for like $149 a month or something sick. But then I said hmm I wonder how much the panigale would be. I was pretty surprised that the monthly payments werent too bad so I said screw it and signed the papers.
I just got my license last August, never having even been on a motorcycle before. I picked up my 2012 250 from my boss at work with only 500 miles on it. Sad to say it's been in storage for the past 4 months because of winter
I'm excited/nervous to take it out this Spring because I feel like I'll have to re-learn how to ride it since I only had a few months of practice before putting it away. Also, I need to shave the seat down because I can barely touch the ground
Oh the perks of being a short female rider. (Oh, and before anyone says anything that's not an oil leak lol It's just water that collected on the bike cover from the rain.)

I forgot about this thread!
Nice pick up, octane88! You'll love it, I just picked one up for my girlfriend about a week or two ago. Coming from a 636 didn't make that bike any less fun. It's a blast to flick around. Enough so that my girlfriend is getting tired of me taking her bike out so much.

Give your gf time to ride the darn thing!I'm stoked to take it out once it warms up and actually get some use out of it this year
Does your gf have any issues with the height of the bike? I'm 5'2'' and with it lowered on it's own I'm on my tip-toes which I hate. I've had other girls tell me to just get used to it but I refuse, I want to be comfortable and see what other people have done to their bike who have the same problem as me.

I got my bike license last June, and have been just sitting on it patiently. But I have now found the one! A good friend of mine is selling me her 2010 ninja 250 with 6000 miles on it. I know, I know, it's small, it's slow, but it's going to be good for me to get comfortable riding. And like octane, topping out at a whopping 5'2" , it's a logical first purchase considering height as a main issue.
I'm really nervous and excited! I can't wait to be able to start riding!

Wow, looks like we could start a 250r sub-forum here!

I think (you'd think I would know, lol) she's exactly the same height as you. She definitely has issues with the height. Sounds funny, but depending on what type of jeans she has on also affects her ground clearance also. This has more to do with low-cut and different seat types of jeans.
We're planning for her to get some nice riding boots and shaving the seat. Boots are just good to have for safety, the gained ground clearance is just a plus! I was planning on shaving the seat for her, but have put it off for some time. She's had a lot of friends (of all sexes and sizes) that started on 250rs so she's collected a lot of unofficial data and reference points. Between the boots and shaving the seat, we think she should do fine.
We decided against lowering the bike using links or dog bones. Just personal preference, but we didn't want to go that route without lowering the front to match.
You couldn't have picked a better bike to start with! It's definitely a blast to ride around and very nimble. Just enough high-range kick to get your heart pumping, but not too much (YMMV, I'm not held liable
) to scare you off. The brakes on this little thing are awesome too!
