New NSX Concept

http://jalopnik.com/5874475/acura-ns...roit-auto-show

Supposedly a mid-engine V6 with electric motors for the front wheels. Looks good other than the Acura standard front bumper, which is total crap. Made in Ohio.

Thoughts?

Looks a lot like Audi's R8. I like the R8 better though.

That seems to be a common response I've seen.

And I agree.

The NSX, if it's ever built (this is the 4th or 5th wave of reincarnation), will need to bring something to the table - 50+ MPG w/ Ferrari 430 performance? Something like that. If it's a mid engine Acura RL it's going to flop hard.

I like the looks (except the grille and beak; get rid of that angle and put a normal mesh grille there). As for the hybrid setup, my first reaction is to hate it but we'll see how the numbers turn out. I just don't understand the point of putting a hybrid drivetrain in what is essentially a entry-level exotic. Buyers at that level don't give a flying **** about MPG.

Acura needs something to sell this on. If it's just another fast car, why would you choose it over a 911 GT3, Ferrari 430 or 458, McLaren MP4, etc...? The original NSX was as fast as a 911 turbo or F355, but reliable and every-day-driveable. All the exotics are reasonably reliable so that edge is gone.

I guess that's a point. Odd to think that the exotic market might actually be overcrowded right now.

Anyone have an idea on price?

Anyone else get the feeling that car makers are trying way too hard to make "futuristic" looking cars and losing their basic design sense? I feel the same way about the new 911 too.

This car looks way over stylized for what it is. The NSX is supposed to be a pure, basic sports car.

looks like an Acura mixed with the new Mazdas and little R8.

I think the front bumper needs re-worked.

I threw up in my mouth a little. That grille, especially the attempt to mix an RL front-middle with ridiculous headlight lines is just hideous.
