V8 in the next Skyline?

From what I have been hearing there might be a V8 in the next Skyline or something. Is there any truth to this? Is there a link that would be discussing this V8? Are Japanese companies starting to us V8s now or something?

I highly doubt the possibility of the V8...I guess it would be a twin-turbo V6. And how do I get my guess? From JGTC (Japanese Grand Touring Championship)...

There's a couple V6 TT GTRs are being tested now by Nismo for the new season....

It'll have the VG30DETT in it and look like the Infinity G35 coupe, right?

The JGTC car is keeping the R34 shell with a different engine (V6-TT). However, no one, absolutely no one outside of Nismo know anything about the car's spec. Not even engine code...After each test run when the car return to the pit, the crew close down the gate to work on the car.....

Very very secret, let hope for something good

I was talking about the next gen GT-R street car It only makes sense it'll be in that configuration. Since the rb26dett is gone So's the silvia and the sr20det, now the prices for silvia parts will skyrocket, just when I need to start buying them

Other than the cocept vehicle shown in the Tokyo auto show, I haven't heard anything after that. Let me dig that out again.

Silvia is another great lost....

here is what i think

Infinity G35 sedan = Nissan skyline sedan
Infinity G35 coupe = Nissan skyline coupe
All powered by the VG30DE

Nissan uses the same chassis for the GT-R, they always have

So it shouldn't be a suprise that the next GT-R will use the above platform with a VG30DETT in it

So I guess the engine in the new Skyline is still very much unconfirmed. Would a V8 in a Skyline be bad or good? I thought that V8 would have to much weight. What other Japanese cars are getting V8s?

The configuration of an engine ultimately has very little bearing on its weight. Inlines are lighter than Vs, all things being equal, but packaging is more difficult. An I6 is an ideal engine configuration (no harmonic imbalances), but they tend to be rather long which makes for long hoodlines in a RWD car, or a goofy layout in a FWD car. V8s aren't popular in Japan because they offer little benefit in a small engine - a 3.5L V6 would be better than a 3.5L V8 in most regards.

The only other V8 rumors I have heard surround the '04 NSX, but I don't believe that will happen.

heard that too..but speculation is pretty easy to come by. think better phrasing would be..aight the gtr might have... or the gtr is rumored to have...such absolutisms lead people in weird directions.
