boost my 97 cobra or get an Evo?
Heys guys,
Brand new to the forum and need feedback on what i should do. a little backround bout myself. Im 18 years old work at advanced auto and goin to UTI in a month. I graduated from a tech school in the auto program and learned a boat load. Im not even close to new to cars and know a good amount about them. ive had an 87 mustang lx i built from scratch with my dad and traded for my current car wich is the cobra. But to get back on topic i want some feedback on whether to boost my 97 cobra or get my dad to co-sign with me and get a loan for an evo. If i get an evo it wont be till probably close to a year from now but i want to figure out what i wanna do now so i dont get ***** deep into my cobra and no money lol.
Reasons i want an Evo.
-Can drive it year around(live in mass)
-better mpgs than the cobra
-more room than the cobra
-cheaper to make more power.
-look badass IMO
-i like being different and know one around me has an Evo. But a ton of sti's floating around.
Reasons to keep the cobra
-RWD is alot of fun
-can make them really fast but cost $$
-the sound of a modular v8 is just amazing
-i have no car payment for the cobra.
i know this is an evo forum an people will be bias..but tell me what you would do!!

You're 18?.....From my experience you're gonna get demolished with negativity from some members here...but from my point of view and what people here have said to me as long as you're responsible and don't go wreck less with all the power then you'll be ok....
Crazy my friend just traded his 90 LX for a sn95 mystic cobra. I would keep the cobra and boost it or throw a shot of nitrous on it. I just got rid of my 03 cobra and I miss it, but don't miss the payments.
Both amazing machines
Once I went awd I can't drive anything else. Awd just a blast, and keeps u from burning rubber
If u don't mind car payments go for the evo, if u wanna save some cash then keep the cobra. Welcome to the community

i HATE people that are irresponsible with nice cars. I almost never dicked around in the 87 an ive only burn rubber twice and it was in a safe area with just me in the car. I never drive crazy with friends in the car and i make everyone put on there seatbelt.

At 18... The cost to mantain an evo will sneak up on you and devour your bank account. I would say to stick with the cobra, leave it as is (which is still a fast, nice car), and save your money up for an Evo down the road.
I had a 98 GT with a t-trim pushin 22psi and making about 650 rwhp and have had a bolt on Evo X with 331awhp and now an Evo 8 with 510awhp and 516awtq as a daily driver and absolutely love it. If I still lived in NJ there would be no doubt in my mind I would keep with AWD, even living in somewhere that sees maybe 10 days a year I still choose to stay with an Evo. To me its a better high performance machine by leaps and bounds. Its amazing how well they handle, even stock.
I do miss getting sideways at 65 mph, and having that awesome v8 sound centri blown with procharger race bypass but my current Evo still makes me smile just as much. I wish I could afford both but I would never step back into a Mustang though unless its coyote powered.
