03 evo for newer sti
would anyone care to elaborate on that "blow by issue" or "ringland" ?
deadstockkpomp.. I remember seeing your previous thread on the low HP making of your evo.
Did you ever try another Dyno? Have you checked compression on pistons? The turbo might be having issues.. which is probably were im inclined on.

problem with brand new sti's or any that are 07+ is that some on stock power levels were having ringland issues requireing a rebuild. same for ones around 350whp. 5 years later and subaru is still running the same engine, not a plus in my book. They should have upgraded or at least fix the issue 100%. Granted it's only a small % of subies that are affected.
the evo 10 does not really impress me to be honest unless its set up right. and to me the 9 and the 8 are the same thing besides mivec and some small stuff like that. im sort of just in a crock of sh*t with my car right now, unless it gets fixed and runs right im probably not going to think the same about it and from that i wolud probably go to subaru
A bone stock evo 9 with a tune or maybe a few minor upgrades would be way more enjoyable (IMO) then getting a suby and dealing with there issues. I want a stock evo to drive as my DD and keep my 8 as a track car. Do whatever makes you happy but i would consider just getting a IX ( they have mivec, and better turbos then the 8)
Almost any car that has any sorts of upgrades or mods done will eventually have so sort of problem. If you decide to sell your evo and buy an sti and mod it things will start to go wrong. Its like this on any car, keep that in mind. You will get the problems with the evo solved and you will love it
I bought a used 03 also and have fixed alot of things and still have alot to go before i can even put money into for FUN stuff but with all the problems it has i still love the car. Its not the most comfortable for long distance drives but still a blast to drive

buy it mod it with the same mods you have on your evo, once your motor blows remember how you were saying you wanted a subaru cause of all the "problems" your evo was giving you
I think you have made up your mind and are shopping for a certain amount of people saying yes get the subaru. Also, just posting your question here says you love your Evo.
Is your 03' paid off? If so, why don't you just keep it? It won't get you that much on the trade.
I'm going to get either a: S200, STi, or a 350z to tune. She will share the carport with midnight.

Just courious, why did you change the lifters? did you pull the head off or just the valve cover? I cant remember but have you done a leak down test?
if we can help let us know-
we also do quite a bit of subaru stuff..
I feel the 2.5L turbo sti motors are good to about 335whp on my dyno (driven hard) before they should get upgraded pistons---
ive owned an 05 sti (built motor 35R) 08 sti (built motor, blouch dom 1) and my tech Mark has had 3!

i know the history of my car and it hasent really had a bad life at all ive dug up research on the previous owners they were all older people and the car was auto crossed for some time occasionally but all together the car has positive feedback, and it runs good except for this one issue which is being resolved. so i wouldent come out saying its a pos, the tranny was rebuilt, t-case reshimmed with front lsd so it was pretty much a solid deal if you ask me.

im simply stating that i have a USED 03 evolution which will obviously have its flaws hence the word used. Yes the car aggravates me sometimes but i do like it. Thats the price you pay buying a used car and im currently paying for it now. Your saying that just because i spent a price that you believe is to good to be true on it that its a complete lemon not knowing any background information on the vehicle. That sounds ignorant to me. Back to the topic on which vehicle would be more suitable for my needs.
