I'm not sure when they stopping making them, but the Taurus SHO had a V8. How new was it?

*don't forget that just cuz they have a badge doesn't make it true....ie: ever seen someone with a civic type r badge, or a mustang with a cobra on it that wasn't really a cobra...*

I think the newer SHOs would have been a lot meaner if they were manuals.

that was the 3.4 yamaha V8. Last summer I had one rev next to me at a traffic light. His custom aftermarket exhaust sounded like a mustang GT

I'll always give props to the Taurus (because my first car ever was an 88hp 2.5 liter FOUR cylinder Taurus L)

I have a personal grudge against the SHO.. But your right, they were available the first few years with a Yamaha V8.. They have potential but I haven't seen one that was all that quick around here. The later ones were V6..

There's some rumors about 2005 seeing the return of a rear drive platform for Ford (Probably the Taurus) Which may be pretty cool if they offer a SVT package..

As far as I understand, Ford is dropping the Taurus after 2004, and bringing in the Ford Five-Hundred as a replacement.

Actually MalibuJack, the early ones had the V6, later they went to the V8 but they were both Yamaha Engines. One of my good friends in high school had one of the early SHO's with the standard tranny and it was the ultimate sleeper. It was pretty quick for the time. When they said that they were going to the V8 witht he newer model expectations were high but it never lived up to its billing.
