Offtopic Mazdaspeed question

Hey Guys,

A buddy of mine has a gen2 speed3 and was wondering if he could use my X bov on his car since it has a junky plastic one stock. I know there are a handful of speed3 guys on here that might know or if anyone has any info that would be great.

Then we'll have to keep bumping it with this silly conversation, because this is where it belongs. <- joke

You need someone higher on the food-chain than I to get the rules changed.

It will not fit, the Speed3 uses a 2-bolt flange BOV.

This. Also, the stocker valves don't leak as bad as you think unless you're running way over stock boost. I replaced mine with an adjustable Turbosmart when I upgraded to a FMIC, didn't notice any difference in PSI, though it did flutter a bit less than the stocker.

Ah, the warm, fuzzy memories of the old 2G DSM and the stupid protest in ESP.

the guys on the mazda forum are telling him to get an old DSM bov if he feels like he needs to change...he just had to get fuel pump internals b/c it cant even support the stock parts...were putting that in this weekend and doing the stage 2..thats why I was wondering about this cause I could just throw my stocker on his without hassle..

They are talking about the compressor bypass valve from a 1G DSM, not a 2G.

ps. I refuse to call these things "blow-off valves" because that isn't what they are - pet peeve

^ I share your frustration. I try to refer to them as DV's but then half the people reading get lost, so then I try to stick to BPV and end up just calling it a blow-off valve or pop-off valve (for those loyal to the crown) if it actually dumps to atmo.

Yeah, the fuel pumps in those things are horrendous from the factory.
