Evo X to 2013 GT500?
Evo X to 2013 GT500?
Sooo, I've been thinking about picking one of these up and parting with the evo.
Pros-
Awesome power - with a warranty(pending I keep my hands off of it)
Plenty of dealers and local aftermarket support - Redneck TN
Bang for your buck (I wish I could look at a GT-R but that isn't an option)
Still fun to drive even though handling isn't even close to the Evo.
Cons-
Price (even though a good deal for what you get)
Rear seat is useless
Truck isn't great
RWD
Closest option I would consider - CTS-V Wagon 6 speed manual - but impossible to find and still not near a quick as the Shelby in a straight line... however the cool factor is up there. Plus it's super practical. Hmmm
Thinking about parting with the Evo for a few reasons - one of the biggest issues is lack of support/awd dyno in middle TN. It sucks there isn't a good shop in the area. Plus I don't have as much spare time as I used to, so it limits my tinkering time on my car. Plus who knows how long mitsu will survive in the USA - just saying.
What are your thoughts on the GT500?

The GT500 is def a force to be reckoned with. Personally if the funds were present, I would go with a V wagon. That's mainly because I have an unhealthy obsession with wagons, but still. Thinking practicality wise, the V beats the GT500 hands down/no questions.
tl;dr
CTS-V FTW

in all honesty i would not even compare, i would def get a GT500 or CTS-V over the evo. As far as solid axle, come on how you going to put all that power to the ground on IRS. I say go for it, 662hp of insanity, cant go wrong there

The live real axle isn't nearly as big of a handling deterrent as people make it out to be. There are tons of well-setup Mustangs out there that are fantastic on road courses. What Ford did with the Boss 302 is also evidence of that.
Or you could wait a year and pick up the 2015 Mustang if you really want IRS.

For the price of a new GT500 you can probably find a fairly low mileage 2009 GT-R....food for thought.
Also when the new (991 body style) 911 turbo comes out I'm sure you may find a bunch of nice low mileage 997 911 turbos for sale too at the same price range of a new GT500.

I've looked at GT-R's.... but they are too expensive for me to maintain. I would hate to stretch myself(financially) for a car out of warranty. I drove the gt500, didn't seem as fun in the twisties as CTS-V, but in a straight line it's a monster for stock. Ideally I would like to keep my daily so that makes things harder. Maybe someone would like Buschur's old shop X.
