Does anyone know how to keep the A/C compressor from coming on everytime you switch to defrost or defrost/foot. I have an 03 Outlander, and I want to control when the A/C is on.
On my 03 Honda Civic, you turned the car off, held down the A/C button, then turned the car back on and it went into "Manual" mode.
Does anything like this exist for Mitsu?

Nope... though in general having the A/C on in the winter has two benefits- the A/C dehumidifies the air and it prevents the growth of mildew in the system, which is a large reason why so many older cars smell awful when the A/C is turned on. Running the A/C for a few minutes each week ameliorates the problem.
Hondas have a pretty sophisticated HVAC system which is primarily servo driven and computerized... which is not true of most mitsubishi cars. Hence, no manual mode.

How do you improve a problem? Is that making the problem more difficult? I think you mean ameliorates the situation.
