Track Day!!!

We had 130 cars show up for the auto cross today. And we still got 4 runs each in.

Looks like that Evo's picking up a hitch hiker!

Built C4 Vette that was running 12.5 wide khumos. He said he was running low 12's and was forcing himself to go slow so the track officials wouldn't kick him off the strip for not having a cage.

He didn't comptete today, but this S14.5 was slick and clean. I love the Z32 calipers.

The 350 didn't compete, but the S13 did, and he was ripping the track up. He probably posted one of the best times there and he's box stock.

The M3 was a great performer.

This triumph (yes that's primer grey) was getting lots of cheers from the crowd. He'd get off course, and then pull a quick 180 to go back to the gate he missed, swing around again and peel out.

the silver evo did an excellent job today. it's shame i posted a better time than him he had like a 51 second time. My best time was 47 seconds and best in my class was 42 (i compete in Street Mod). I went OC once and picked up two cones in the undercarriage coming out of the last turn.

I was going to mount all 4 corners with slicks, but the wheels i had borrowed didn't clear my calipers, so I had to remount my streets on the front and deal with the understeer. I pushed through way too many of the turns that should have been neutral. oh well.

more pics!

You'll see shots like this a lot. This section was a pivot point at the end of a short slalom section. It pivoted and then doubled back down the slalom. The gates were set up weird, and it was almost impossible to take it fast without catching the gate cone.

The STi tore the track up.

here's what using street tires on the front of your car will do to you if use slicks on the rears. Understeer!

I do not look good open face helmets.

Sorry for the graininess in these pics, but they were scanned from my friend's filim shots he took of the meet.

Where was the event held. I'm down that way a couple of times a summer(Smith Mt Lake). I'd love to catch up with you guys and do an "away" event. Do you run more than one car on the course at one time?

cones == bad.

autoxer. this was held at the Lynchburg community college. we'll be in verona on the 13th or 14th of march next. You definitely need to come out. we have a ton of good cars show up, but no decent lancers (except for evo's)

in the 180 box after the slalom, if you started to understeer into the gate cone, it was better to hit it than to stop and back up (which EVERYONE in the 1st and the 2nd heat did). You saved like 2 or 3 seconds by hitting it.
