For a bit of perspective:
In 2006, a number of people had the dream of Prodrive putting their P2 prototype into production.
The two seat prototype had a STi engine and a Kei car chassis, but the showcase feature was Prodrive's ATD: Active Torque Dynamics -- a feature that would shift torque front to back and between the rear wheels to aid handling.
Hmm. Sound familiar?
Sounds like the S-AWC system on the 2008-current EVO X.
Okay, the X has four doors and a bit more weight, but Prodrive estimated a production price of about $70K, *if* they were going to build it.
Mitsu really did build the X, and for considerably less. And without that problem boxer engine.
(Being able to leverage the Lancer production tooling helped with costs, no doubt.)
Livin' the dream.

I always loved the Jaguar XJ220.. that's my dream car. If I gotta go with something new the Noble M600.. It's the modern XJ220 meets F40 in one car.
Though coming back to Earth I'm waiting to finish paying on my Evo and I'll finally get a 911. Either a 964 C2 or a 996/997 Turbo. Almost did the 996 Turbo but other things got in the way.
