My New Daily

Most of you know about my Evo 6 TME build, and if you don't then you need to check it out. But what most of you don't know is that I picked up something new. Something British.

And yes you read that right, my new daily. I drive 5 miles to and from work each day, and I've spent most of my commutes on a sportbike or superbike. However I've decided that I like having a roof. So what better way to replicate the power and response of a motorcycle, but with four wheels and a hard top? I don't have much free time to enjoy driving, so why not do a little bit every day?

And for those curious, this is a 2006 Lotus Exige N/A with a stage II performance exhaust. It's plenty fast enough, but I like power too much. Supercharger coming soon. Oh and don't worry about the Evo, it's doing just fine. Just taking a break from fixing it to focus on work.

How tall are you? I distinctly recall Michael Hammond's review of the car saying that if you're tall trying to get into the car is like trying to get toothpaste back into the tube... Any issues?

Yeah. Not for the so called "big and tall" people.

5'10", you have to be fit and flexible in order to drive this every day. So far though I've got a good routine getting in and out, I don't mind it whatsoever.

Haha, I'm 6'1 and reasonably fit. Unfortunately I think I have all the flexibility of a 2x4... All that aside, it's a drop dead gorgeous automobile.

Got a deal on some carbon fiber parts. If you can't tell, it's a new front splitter (plate delete), side scoops, front access panels (bonnet covers), and rear wing end plates.

Also picked up this. Should liven things up a bit:

Love love love lotus. Car is clean and very nice. Interior shots? I've always wanted to drive, can you comment on how it handles compared to the evo?

Any pics of the interior? Wondering how "spartan" it really is for a daily driver.

I'll get some photos later, but it's the same as any 05-10 Elise or Exige interior. Exposed aluminum, a lot of it, black plastic dash, floor mats and leather bucket seats. No cup holders or seat warmers, no power mirrors, some don't even have power windows or locks. Mine has a radio but I never use it. One reason is because the quality sucks, second because I'd rather listen to the engine.

Little update, bought some more CF parts:

That is sick. What an enjoyable daily.. Maybe one day, I'm about the same height and pretty flexible. How much did it run you?
