Going from evos to mustang gt 2015.

Hi friends what do you guys think of the new mustang gt 2015?
I love the car but still dont have any experience with muscle cars. Are they reliable as the evos? Want opinions thanks.

BamaPerformance just set the new 1/4 mile record with one, then broke something on it on the 3rd or 4th pass lol

I came from a camaro. I drove a 2014 Mustang GT for a week.

The mustang is way faster than the camaro, but I felt the camaro cornered better. The mustang gt will beat a stock evo in a straight line.

I have an evo now. Would never go back to a muscle car. I'd miss being able to go around corners.

Yeah, it could make a ton of power relatively cheaply. Forget about driving it in the snow though. :}

Either car is reliable if driven reasonably and maintained. Both are unreliable if constantly hammered on and abused. It's really about what you like. The V8 does give you more room to grow if you are into modding and the Mustang can handle for sure with basic suspension mods (see Vorshlag.com).

I would absolutely consider the 15 mustang for a new car if you like the styling and can live with 2 doors. Heck, the previous mustang was worthy of being considered too. Make sure to get the performance package on the GT.

The new GT hasn't been out for long enough to know what the long term reliability is. I don't think there were any major drive train problems on the previous coyote powered mustangs ('11-14). There were some criticisms of the transmission shift quality (which I believe has been improved).

If I had $35k to spend on a sporty new car I would take the 15' Mustang GT over the Evo X any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I'm sorry but with the removal of the recaros on the 15... the car is just too low rent to justify it's price. It's not like it's competing with the BRZ price wise. With that being said, I absolutely love my Evo and am keeping it (despite just buying a stingray).

I grew up driving Camaros, so my hatred of Mustangs has been undimmed for 25 years. The Mustang is probably the best of the Muscle cars, if you leave the 1LE and Z/28 out of the picture.

That said, I don't want a 3800# - 4200# crazy barge weight coupe. These cars are too big. Evos have surgical handling in comparison, aren't overweight, and have the practicality of four doors.

I wouldn't buy a Mustang or any modern pony car ever. I would love to drive a new Z/28 to see what it's like, but it's not a realistic car for me to own, and completely impractical.

2 words. 1... 2.... 1 word!

Love how the camaro looks but the Z/28 specs don't match it's price, sorry.

None of them do well in the snow. Snow+RWD do not mix. If you want something good in the snow AWD/4WD/FWD is the only way to go.

Definitely don't want a Failcat! 4500 lb overweight cop car in Charger guise. Totally despise modern Dodge sans Viper.

If I was gonna go the muscle car route, personally, I'd get an old one and work with that. The new ones are just blah. Dodge, Ford, Chevy, doesn't matter. Vintage style + power = win in my book. That's the only way I'd do it. Someday I might, but I just got my evo so gonna toy with that a while XD

I am a car enthusiast, if I could afford it I would be like J Leno and have so many cars I wouldn't even have time to drive any! But reality sets in and I am making sure I make it to work so I can pay bills. I could never give up the evo for a mustang. What I would love to do is find a black 2010 srt8 jeep and tell the wife its for the kids!

I have an Evo IX modded to 299/298 and I also have a 2008 Roush modded (Stage 3) Mustang at around 450/400. I would say 0-60 on the cars are just about dead even, but even with the Roush Stage 3 suspension on the Mustang, NOTHING corners and handles like an Evo. I've been fortunate enough to keep both for a few years now, but I'm at the point now where I would like to sell the Mustang, keep the Evo and pick up something else… The Evo just has a "fun factor" that I can't get over… AND worst of all, I put far too much money into the Mustang to get it where it is… If I put the same amount of money into my Evo IX, it would be an absolute monster!

Seeing the 2015 evo x makes me sad. Why the heck would they get rid of the recaro seats. Yesterday i drove a 2012 shelby cobra it had insane horsepower and the car felt very well balanced and a very solid ride. Thats the closest ive got to a muscle car. Would love to try a gt with the sports package since its all motor its logical that the drive will be different then the shelby and even the evo x . But for me the most important thing in a car is reliability do you guys think they are at least as reliable as an evo? Before evos i owned bmws and men those cars suck at reliability dont know the new ones but bmws prior to the year 2000 sucked! Well thanks guys for the info.

but what about reliability?
Is the mustang as reliable as the evo?
