it is yet to be seen whether or not the base c6 will be a real competitor of the current z06. there is a night and day difference with the current model. i think the rear tire size suggests if you want an auto x monster either the current or the next z06 will due, but the normal vettes are more about status symbols and owning a sports car than anything.

The C6 is lighter, smaller, almost as powerful, and with the Z51 package has a suspension that is the equal to the Z06s. Chevy engineers have said that the C6 with the handling package will offer performance close to, if not equal to, that of the C5 Z06, but I guess that we'll have to wait til they start hitting the streets to see how accurate their projections are. The rear tires on the C6 are slightly narrower than those on the C5 Z06 (285 vs 295) but the difference should be very slight. A normal Corvette still out performs 95% of sports cars out there, and if I was shopping for a sports car and could afford the C6 I would definitely take a long, hard look at it. Auto Vettes are status symbols, however, I definitely agree with you there, but the manual ones can run with the best of them.

suprised nobody has mentioned 03/04 cobra prices on used ones are a little over 20k now... bolt ons and a tune your at like 450 at the rear wheels.......think that can hold ya over. btw, i saw a test in a mag where they slapped on a twin turbo (cost was 7 grand i think) on the 03/04 cobra and they made 900hp with the stock bottom end on the car. plus handling wise...they still are cobras..not gt's....they arent bad

I think if you are going to compare cars, you need to compare in somewhat the same price range. Because if you want to talk about the car that you would love to have, I am surprsed that I did not see the Enzo on the list, but if you are talking $60,000.00 Z06 is deffinately the answer, and then if you only have like $5000.00 than you should not have put the C5, or S2000 on the list at all, and 75% of the rest of these posts would not be on here either. I say that Z06 is the way to go no questions asked.
