what rear wheel drive car should i get

what light rear wheel drive car should i get. i already have a modded evo and a daily driver, so i want something really fun to play with. needs to be under 20 thousand or so ( can be a little over, doesn't really matter that much ).

what i had in mind was:

an rx7 purchased stock and then add about 5-10K to it for coilovers and a single turbo. i'm kinda scared of buying such an old car that will probably break alot. this is almost the perfect little car for what i want,

a supercharged c5 vette. are they really a leaf spring rear end? would be easy to modd and make huge HP easily.

i really like the s2000 but after test driving a few they suck at anything below 6000 rpm. kinda a small power band there. it was a decent fun little car though. with a turbo or supercharger it might be alright.

a 240 from the 70s with an ls1 v8 in it. this would take me forever to finish though and cost more than a modded rx7 in the end if done properly.

ok, what are everyones thoughts on the issue. it has to be as fast ( at least feel as fast ) as an evo with stage 3 buschur parts. i really like the little s2000 but i don't think it will be fast enough. what are everyones ideas. and i'm not getting rid of my evo, i'm just picking up a fun project car.

my problem is the 240s are ugly, the s15 silvias or whatever they are called are pretty neat cars, but i don't think you can get one here. plus, they would be too slow. what do those things weigh?

rx-8 would be way too slow, same with the miata turbo.

i like the s2000 but that was just a reply without any real justification behind it.

how about people tell me about modded rear wheel drive cars they have and like, and post a picture too.

now we are talking. do you have an e36 with a turbo kit on it? how much aftermarket support are there for them. is a pretty simply stuff, or is it difficult since it is all bmw high compression stuff. how much horse power will you end up with in the end. what is the exact weight of the car. do you have to put in a different rear end to take the power. ect.

How about a Caterham Super 7. 1400lbs of RWD goodness. I heard 0-60 under 4.3 seconds with the new SVT Zetec engine option. Since you have a daily driver already, this car is nothing but fun.

Well her is the trick you need a 95M3 obdI. You can reduce the Compression with a head gasket AA suplies but the best way to do it is by building the motor with lower compression pistions.

AA uses a garret turbo with HKS ext wastgate and AA FMIC.

with a built motor on 93oct a 3.0l m3 makes well over 400whp for years. at only 12psi of boost.

I'm partial to the S2000, but I understand they're not for everyone. I'd imagine you want something different than the Evo, so I'd avoid the E36 M3.

Cars to consider:
Miata and do a 13B swap.
240SX, with an SR20DET swap, and an S15 front end.
RX7
Lotus 7 (Caterham, SuperPerformance, etc)

The C5 has a traditional double A arm suspension with a transverse leaf spring (essentially a giant anti-sway bar). It's a very good design. A stock C5 will be closer to the Evo, the Z06 a bit faster. If you forsee having the money down the road, a Lingenfelter turbo package can get these up into the realm of 700-900 reliable horsepower.

MR2 turbo. That's a sweet little car. Mid engine would be a pain in the *** though.

I think a Miata with a Kenne Belle supercharger would be supercar killer. I'd get really wide tires, suspension upgrades, racing seats and a roll cage.
I have yet to see a newer MR2 with stupidfast speed but I think it would be sweet.

My first choice would be to say 240, but S2K's are very nice.

For cheap power, and older Miata would be king. Light and agile. But they're not drag strip material (if that's what you're after).

S15 Silvias are anything but slow. They should weigh in around the same weight of an S14, which is 2800 pounds. Then add in 250 horse at around 7 PSI on a ball bearing T28 turbo (easily upped with a cheap boost controller) with a hellical limited slip, and you've got a great track killer. Shame they weren't available over here...

But you could get a 240, and drop an S15 SR20 into it (good luck finding a good price though), and do a build up. I'm getting ready to take my S13 out to the dyno on Saturday and find out how much power I'm running with 14PSI on the stock T25.

Since you brought up the C5, how about a Mustang or a Camaro, these two are easy to find, I've seen 96's and 98's for like under $10,000. And they have a nice aftermarket support. All the guys I've seen with these modded out cars do awesome burnouts and doughnuts. Or try and get lucky and find a Twin Turbo 300ZX, they're bad *** too.
