Discourse Community of EvolutionM, bruh
Congratulations EvolutionM, through the definition of Swales you are a discourse community.
Because I am a member of the Lancer discourse community, I have decided to do my final ethnography paper for my English class on the community here at EvolutionM. I am focusing the paper on the aspect of breaking the stereotypes that car enthusiasts and auto mechanics alike face, and would really appreciate it if I could have some feedback on the issue. None of the information posted will be shared with anyone other than my professor and no personal information is needed, I just need perspective outside of my own to get a better grasp of the stereotypes I need to dispel in my paper.
Being an auto mechanic myself I have heard the typical "grease monkey" and "gear head" comments, and am wondering about any other stereotypes that pertain to people like us. Has anyone heard or know of any other quick assumptions made about people who are knowledgeable and handy under the hood?
Any and all input would be appreciated, thank you!

Friends automatically assume we will work on their cars whenever they want, free of charge of course!
Some assume I work on the Evo because its broken, even though usually the Evo is broken because I work on it
jk.
I honestly have had friends and acquaintances (that aren't mechanically inclined) think that I don't make enough money to take my car to a shop, but in the end they always ask me to work on their cars down the road.
